Tropes present in this fanfic include:

  • Adaptational Badass: Although he retains his laziness and primadonna habits, Justin is much more devious and competent in his villainous role compared to his canonical self, even managing to manipulate Heather and succeed at emotionally crushing her.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Blaineley is introduced in this version of Action's Aftermaths as Geoff's co-host.
  • Alternate Universe Fic: In this fic's continuity, events during the first season special result in all 22 contestants having to participate in the second season rather just 14 (later 15) of them.
  • Ascended Extra: Some of the less prominent first gen characters like Eva, Ezekiel, and Sadie get considerably more focus here than in canon.
  • Berserk Button: Bridgette hates being admired for only her body, going as far as to snap at Duncan when he catcalls her during the surfing movie challenge.
  • Big Bad: Justin is this.
  • Big Sister Bully: Courtney is revealed to have one on the Aftermaths.
  • Break the Haughty: Heather goes through this in the season, thanks to everyone ridiculing her for her baldness, hating her for her previous actions, and Justin's manipulations.
  • Bully and Wimp Pairing: Eva and DJ form one similar to DJ's canonical illegal alliance with Chef.
  • Darker and Edgier: While the story retains the canon season's mixture of drama and comedy, the drama is much more intense than canon and the humour at times veers into outright adult territory, with sex jokes and drug references.
  • Dead Fic: The story hasn't been updated since October 31, 2018.
  • Demoted to Extra: Courtney and Owen are eliminated much earlier than in canon.
  • Divergent Character Evolution: Katie and Sadie's friendship breaks, leading the latter to attempt to find her own identity.
  • Ensemble Cast: Pretty much everyone gets a storyline in this version of the season.
    • Bridgette's conflict with Eva over the latter's efforts to make DJ more aggressive.
    • Lindsay and Tyler trying to assert their usefulness to their teams.
    • Cody trying to become manlier.
    • Noah and Owen's Odd Friendship being strained by Noah having Izzy voted off.
    • Trent's breakup with Gwen and its impact on her relationships with everyone else.
    • Justin charming and manipulating everyone, notably Beth, Heather, and Duncan.
    • Geoff hosting the Aftermath with Blaineley and fearing Bridgette might not really love him back.
    • Ezekiel and Leshawna's Odd Friendship, as well as Harold's jealousy of it.
    • Courtney having to tone down her bossiness and improve her leadership skills.
    • Sadie ending her friendship with Katie and trying to find herself a new identity.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Gwen and Noah. As a result of the former's breakup with Trent and the latter's betrayal of Owen (as well as Justin spreading malicious rumours), they are isolated from the contestants and team up because of this in order to get far.
  • Hidden Depths: Everyone gets a little bit of this. Trent's clinginess is because he has been cheated on by previous girlfriends twice, Owen loves Izzy because she doesn't judge him for his weight, Courtney's perfectionist tendencies comes from having a Big Sister Bully, Bridgette hates being objectified for her appearance, Eva is in fact barely literate and was bullied as a child, Beth is a history geek, etc.
  • N-Word Privileges: When trying to get in a rapper persona, Sadie almost says this word, before Leshawna's scowl stops her. Ezekiel notes in a confessional that even he knows he can't just say that word.
  • Odd Friendship: Naive homeschooled farmboy Ezekiel and street-smart ghetto girl Leshawna develop one.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: LOTS of examples, but some are bigger than others.
    • After finding out that Noah voted Izzy off the show, jolly and optimistic Owen gets incredibly angry to the point that everyone's scared of him, and he takes his anger out on Noah.
    • Peaceful and compassionate Bridgette becomes much more aggressive and judgemental when facing Eva in her efforts to stop Eva from trying to make DJ more aggressive.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: Bridgette becomes this during the surfing movie challenge, as she's forced to put on a very form-fitting one-piece lifeguard swimsuit and is annoyed by all the guys ogling her.
  • Rise of Zitboy: Cody develops a giant zit on his forehead during the war movie challenge, distracting and disgusting everyone throughout the episode.
  • Shout-Out: Too many of these to list, with the author's notes detailing all of them.
  • The Stations of the Canon: Geoff and Izzy are still eliminated consecutively (although this time Bridgette is not eliminated alongside Geoff and Izzy does not return) and Trent and Gwen break up like in canon.
  • What If?: The story explores the possibility of what would happen if all 22 of the original Island competitors got to compete in Action.
