"Ties of Fate" is a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon
Fan Fic written by Fusion Phoenix. The fic is set in an Alternate Universe, inspired by the titular Mystery Dungeon games.
The story follow the adventures of Rio, an Outlander as he's sent to the Pokémon world to prevent a disaster. Along the way, he makes friends with tons of Pokémon, while learning how to control his new body's abilities. What the disaster is is unknown, but that won't stop them from trying.

Ties of Fate contains examples of:
- Action Girl: Used to be Diana, but due to her advanced age, she's not anymore.
- Armor Is Useless: Subverted by Zen. His body armor is very effective at protecting him.
- Battle Aura: Used whenever someone is Berserk.
- Battle Couple: Author says it's Zeke and Nate.
- Big Brother Worship: Kai, to Kora.
- Calling your attacks: Played straight, as most of the main cast uses this when battling.
- Childhood Friends: Played straight by Minerva and Kora.
- The Corruption: The Dark Berry is a example of this, causing Dark-types to become Berserk.
- During chapter 23, it's revealed that the black box also works like this.
- And during chapter 26, somehow, Lee can do it as well.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Zen, a Dark-type, is not a villain. This doesn't stop him from being an Alpha Bitch.
- Elemental Powers: Played straight. This is Pokémon, after all.
- Rio has an even bigger degree of this, as he's capable of absorbing attacks.
- Emergency Transformation: During chapter 26. Zen uses one of the Dark Berries to become Berserk in order to defeat Lee.
- Ensemble cast: The author introduces new characters almost every chapter.
- Everybody Is Single:
Word of God says there are no plans for romantic fluff.- Subverted by Zeke and Nate.
- Evil All Along: Lee, who spent a few chapters trying to gather information, only to attack the team later on.
- Also used by Z.
- Fighting Your Friend: Used quite a few times, whenever someone is in Berserk state.
- Heroic BSoD: Kora, during the entirety of chapter 10, causing him to go Berserk. It even extends beyond a few chapters.
- Jerkass: Played straight by Zen.
- The Chosen One: Rio, as the new Outlander.
- Diana is also an example of this, but she's far from her prime.
- The Lancer: Kora, to Rio.
- The Smart Guy: Zen, as he's the one that develops most of the plans.
- The Reveal: Chapter 9 reveals what the Dark Berries do whenever they're eaten by a Dark-type.
- Taught by Experience: Rio spends most of the first chapters training to learn his Aura abilities.
- Tomboy: Minerva.
- Waking Up Elsewhere: Played straight, as the first chapter opens up by Rio waking up in a new and strange place.
