Go To

When you get hit in the back of the head with a soccer ball, you typically expect to wake up with a sore head...
Not to wake up as Katsuki Bakugo!
What happens now that Franco is trapped in a whole new world, while his friends try to hunt down their missing comrade?
And what happens when he eventually finds out he's not the only one in a situation like this?

Tropes (Time I Was Reincarnated As An Explosive Pomeranian):

  • Adaptational Early Appearance:
    • Bakugo's parents, Mitsuki and Masaru Bakugo, are introduced in Chapter 1, instead of right after the Hideout Raid Arc like in canon.
    • Pony Tsunotori and Hitoshi Shinso are introduced as members of Class 1-A, replacing Shoto Todoroki and Yuga Aoyama, instead of being introduced during the UA Sports Festival Arc as members of Class 1-B and Class 1-C respectively.
    • UA's Big Three (Mirio Togata, Nejire Hado, and Tamaki Amajiki) are all introduced in Chapter 5, right before the USJ attack.
    • The villain Franco fights at the USJ is Geten, who was introduced during the Meta Liberation Army Arc.
  • Adaptation Name Change: Franco changes the name of AP Shot to... Blitzkreig Blitz.
  • All There in the Manual: Before The Ball Struck, which includes stories and information about Franco, Kieran, and Enzo, which is set before the events of the main fic.
    • The tropes exclusive to that fic are listed below.
  • Alternate Universe: With a majority of the cast also being Self-Inserts, canon is pretty much thrown out the window.
  • Casual Sports Jersey: After Franco is isekai'd, he manages to somehow find (and purchase) a Toronto Raptors jersey.
  • Decoy Backstory: Franco comes up with one shortly after he ends up in the My Hero Academia world.
    • For some reason, said backstory has him from The '90s (specifically 1991), despite him being from the Present Day.
  • Didn't See That Coming:
    • Franco's reaction to Kirishima asking if anyone else in 1-A was also a Self-Insert during Chapter 2.
    • Sato and Shinso's reaction to seeing Ashido carrying an unconscious Bakugo in Chapter 3
  • Didn't Think This Through: Franco's last-ditch effort against Ashido backfires as a result of him having barely any time to think it, due to him realizing that Ashido is also very likely to be another person who was iseaki'd.
  • For Want Of A Nail: A group of 30 self-inserts ending up in the My Hero Academia world will do that to you...
  • "Hell, Yes!" Moment: Franco realizing he isekai'd as Katsuki Bakugo.
Franco: I really have been isekai’d… Holy fucking shit, I’m a deuteragonist now!
    • Immediately followed up by an Oh, Crap! when he realized the potential consequences of him being Bakugo.
  • High School: The main setting of My Hero Academia is UA High School... despite Franco having graduated before he ended up in this world.
  • I Work Alone: In Chapter 3, it's mentioned that Franco is usually a "Lone Wolf" when it comes to assignments.
    • However, he actually decides to work with Sato in the chapter, despite it resulting in their team losing.
  • Mirror Reveal: Franco realizes that he's been isekai'd as Bakugo after looking in a mirror.
  • Never Tell Me the Odds!: Franco managing to exactly replicate Bakugo's performance in the Ball Throw during the Quirk Apprehension Test in Chapter 2, despite having only been in his body for about 3 weeks.
  • Obsessive Sports Fan (Implied): Franco with Association Football.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Franco's reaction at the realization that he had just blown his cover of pretending to not be a Self-Insert.
    • Franco's reaction yet again, when he notices Kurogiri's portal opening during Chapter 5.
  • Original Character: The main character, Franco, as well as his friends Kieran and Enzo, are all original characters.
  • Real-Place Background: Before he ends up in the My Hero Academia world, Franco (and his friends) are confirmed to be located in Toronto in Chapter 2.
    • In Chapter 2, Franco reminds himself that he is no longer in Toronto.
    • The Toronto Subway system is mentioned in a thought by Kieran in Chapter 2.
    • Kieran asks Enzo to meet him at the Eaton Centre at the end of Chapter 4, which they do in Chapter 5.
  • Self-Damaging Attack Backfire: In Chapter 3, Franco's attempt to attack Ashido backfires, resulting in him crashing through the floor and knocking himself unconscious.
  • Self-Insert Fic: The whole premise of the fic (and the series it's a part of) has a large group of people being self-inserted into the world of My Hero Academia.
  • Shout-Out: Starting from Chapter 3, the chapter descriptions are based on parts of the British TV show Top Gear.
    • Most chapter descriptions are based on the Top Gear intro.
    • Interlude 1's description is based on Jeremy Clarkson's introduction of the Stig in most episodes.
  • Trapped in Another World: Franco, after getting hit in the head with a soccer ball at the start of Chapter 1, ends up in the My Hero Academia world as Katsuki Bakugo.

Tropes (Before The Ball Struck):

  • First Snow: Enzo witnesses snow for the first time in "Enzo’s First Winter".
  • Shout-Out: Kieran's name in the group chat is Fractale.
