Credited as 'the first Naruto/Korra crossover,' The Tides Change Once More
is written by Engineer4Ever. Naruto Beifong is the 17-year-old son of Lin Beifong and a Lieutenant in Republic City's Metalbending Police Force under his mother, Chief Lin Beifong. Then he meets the newest Avatar, Korra, and things take off from there.

The fanfic has the following tropes:
- A Child Shall Lead Them: 17-year-old Naruto Beifong is chosen by his mother to lead the Metalbending Police Force.
- Action Mom: Lin Beifong, of course.
- Affectionate Nickname: Naruto calls Toph 'GT' (Grandma Toph for short), and Korra 'Water Princess,' while Korra calls Naruto 'Earth Prince.'
- Back from the Dead: Naruto, after Korra rescues him from the Spirit World
- Badass Crew: The Band of Seven Swordsmen. Even Yuki thinks that they're nuts.
- Badass Normal: Itachi, following Amon removing his firebending. And there's his wife, Yuki, who is the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors.
- Benevolent Boss: Lin and Naruto, for the most part.
- Battle Couple: Naruto and Korra, natch. We also have Itachi and Yuki, and Mako and Asami.
- Bow Chicka Wow Wow: Bumi says this after he and Tenzin's kids catch Naruto and Korra making out. He also says this to irritate Tenzin.
- Boy Meets Girl: Naruto meets Korra while his mother is interrogating her.
- Chef of Iron: The ramen chef, Teuchi Ichiraku, who is a waterbender. He's a good cook and a great fighter. When 3 Equalists storm into his ramen restaurant, he uses the water-soaked ramen to beat down all three of them before resuming his lunch.Teuchi: Needs more salt.
- Children Forced to Kill: As a child, Naruto is forced to kill in self-defense when firebenders attempt to kidnap Asami and murdered Asami's mother.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: Korra delivers one to Amon/Noatak that would make even Bi-Han and Kuai Liang proud by encasing Amon in a water bubble, freezes it, and shatters it.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Several.
- A young Naruto vs Grandma Toph. Toph wins... in 5 seconds.

- Korra vs Amon... after the latter kills Naruto.
- Da Chief: Lin Beifong, the Chief of Republic City's Metalbending Police Force. Naruto takes over the role for a while before Lin returns to the post.
- Dating What Momma Hates: Lin does not think highly of Korra and Naruto dating, but she tolerates her... for the most part.
- Do Not Taunt Kurama: We have this exchange between Naruto and Kurama when he is unconscious in the hospital...Naruto: (to Kurama, who is in his small, one-tailed form, off-handedly) You know...that deep voice of yours just doesn't go with your tiny body.Kurama: That's it! (goes into full Nine-Tailed Fox mode) Who's tiny now?Naruto: Um...me?
- The Dreaded: Kurama is this to Tenzin.
- For Want Of A Nail:
- Lin Beifong, who is childless in canon, is mother to Naruto.
- Councilman Tarrlok, who dies with his brother in canon, survives and is in prison.
- General Badass: General Iroh.
- Happily Married: Itachi and Yuki, although Naruto mentally notes that Itachi 'has the patience of a saint' when he refuses to argue with his wife.
- Mama Bear: Lin is this especially when Naruto is involved.
- Meaningful Name: Itachi's last name is Maboroshi, which in Japanese, means 'illusion.'
- Majorly Awesome: Naruto's rank following the Equalist uprising.
- Once Done, Never Forgotten: Naruto played a prank on General Iroh by dyeing his hair pink. It also didn't help that Iroh had to address his graduation ceremony the following day.
- Reincarnation: A good number from the Naruto universe find themselves here. Naruto Uzumaki (as Naruto Beifong), Itachi Uchiha (as Itachi Maboroshi) just to name a few.
- Where Did We Go Wrong?: Lin asks herself this after finding out that Naruto and Korra had slept together.
- You Are Grounded!: Lin invokes this twice with Naruto.
- First, after surviving the bombing at his office...
Naruto: (after Lin smacks him on the head) Ah, the hell? I have a concussion!Lin: You're grounded...until the end of time.- Second, after Korra rescues him from the Spirit World...
