Adagio Dazzling's life has plummeted drastically since the events of Rainbow Rocks: not only is she stuck working a dead end job as a singer in a crummy nightclub, but her attitude has cost her the only two companions she's ever had. One night, Sunset Shimmer appears at the club while she's working and tries to reach out to her, but Adagio's pride and anger at the girl leads her to turn her down. Soon after however, Adagio has an encounter with a mugger that pushes her to the brink, after which she begins to rethink her life and reaches out to accept Sunset's offer. As the pair start working to turn Adagio's life around, Adagio comes to realize that she comes to like having Sunset as a friend. In fact, she soon realizes that she wants her relationship with Sunset to be more than that...
The series can be found on Fimfiction, and consists so far of nine stories:
- A Dazzling World: When Adagio Dazzling's life hits Rock Bottom, she receives surprising help from her former enemy Sunset Shimmer. In the process, she realizes that she's falling in love with the former pony.
- A Shimmering Heartbreak: Following the events of the first story, Adagio, now dating Sunset, works to repair the fractured friendship between her girlfriend and the Rainbooms.
- Siren Days: Taking place shortly after A Shimmering Heartbreak, Adagio works to help Apple Bloom and the CMC to win a school competition.
- The Curious Caper of the Missing Baker: Occurring after "Siren Days", Apple Bloom recruits a reluctant (and tired) Adagio to help solve a mystery when the baker she hired to make a cake for the CMC's anniversary party disappears.
- Follow Suit: Taking place some time after The Curious Caper of the Missing Baker, Adagio works to settle her debt with crime boss Filthy Rich, but unfortunately isn't looking forward to the job.
- Bloom's Regrets: Upon learning that her longtime bully Diamond Tiara is ill, Apple Bloom tries to become her friend.
- A Spooky Scary Siren: In this Halloween Special, Adagio is in for a few scares as she undertakes her very first Halloween.
- That Warm Smile: A lead-up to A Dazzling Trio; Adagio's life is going great with both her friends and the love of her life. Unfortunately, she soon starts seeing a mysterious being that the reformed siren is very familiar with. At the same time, Adagio's girlfriend Sunset asks her a surprising question.
- A Dazzling Trio: Sunset and Adagio are now engaged. As Adagio seeks to reconnect with the two sirens she's fell out of touch with and finally regain her magic, a dark presence within her mind could threaten to destroy everything Adagio has gained.
This series provides examples of:
- Adaptational Heroism: Unlike in canon where she was never truly redeemed, here Adagio has fully undergone a Heel–Face Turn. The same applies to Sonata and Aria when she reunites with them.
- Alternate Universe: This story diverges away from the events of Sunset's Backstage Pass, which shows the Dazzlings making a living as a regular band, instead having them break apart following being defeated by the Rainbooms.
- Good Bad Girl: Despite having reformed, Adagio still maintains her snarky attitude and is still mischievous, while also developing an affectionate side in regards to Sunset.
- The Magic Comes Back: In "A Dazzling Trio", by absorbing small amounts of magic from each of the Rainbooms, Adagio manages to regain her magic.
- Odd Friendship: Apart from Sunset Shimmer, Adagio's first actual friend is Applejack's little sister Apple Bloom.
- Official Couple: Apart from Sunset and Adagio, there's also Rarity and Applejack.
- Putting the Band Back Together: Quite literally the premise of "A Dazzling Trio", where Adagio asks Sunset and her friends to help her find and reconnect with Sonata and Aria.
- Ship Tease: There seems to quite a bit between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy.
