The Monstrous Hero: Chimera
is a My Hero Academia crossover story with Suicide Squad by AnAwkCooper on Archive of Our Own.
Izuku is kidnapped as a child by a Mad Scientist who infuses several Mutant Quirks into his body to make him into a weapon. However, he is rescued by the Suicide Squad, who were tasked with taking the guy out. Taking pity on the kid, the Squad bring him back to Belle Reve and raise him as their own. Can Izuku still achieve his dream of being a Pro Hero while being raised by Villains?

- Being infused with multiple different Mutant Quirks has transformed Izuku into a Chimera. As the story progresses his body adapts, gaining new applicabilities in the process.
- Itsuka Kendo is the one who inherits the power of One For All from All-Might in this story.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Amanda Waller, while still being a ruthless and uncompromising director, shows more of her soft side to Izuku. She was also old friends with Nana Shimura and has a personal vendetta against All For One because he murdered her.
- Commonality Connection: Killer Croc shows a surprising level of tenderness to Izuku. This makes sense, as Waylon understands what it's like to be seen as a monster just for being a Mutant.
- Cool Uncle: Captain Boomerang appoints himself as this when the Squad first takes in Izuku.
- Criminal Found Family: After Izuku is placed in their care, the Suicide Squad ultimately comes together to raise him and continue to support him even as he goes on to become a student at UA.
- Even Evil Has Standards: The Suicide Squad may be composed of notorious supercriminals, but even they are appalled by what Izuku went through after they rescue him.
- Improperly Paranoid: All Might believes that Izuku may be a creation of All for One serving as an agent to the notorious supervillain even when all evidence points to Izuku being a hero with no malice in his bones.
- Mad Scientist: Ryoji Konisaki was a surgeon and quirkologist specializing in Mutant Quirks. However, he was arrested after being caught illegally harvesting organs from his patients. After escaping prison, he went into hiding while kidnapping various people with Mutant type Quirks in order to achieve his goal of creating the Ultimate Life Form. Izuku ends up being the unlucky candidate for this finished procedure.
- Mama Bear: Harley Quinn immediately takes a shine to Izuku and becomes fiercely protective of him as a result, even offering to use her psychology degree to help him through his traumatizing experience.
