The Fastest-Paced Story Ever Told is a My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fanfiction written by DmitriTheWriter that is Exactly What It Says on the Tin and requires no summary at all.
But it does have a summary: On a camping trip, Twilight and the Cutie Mark Crusaders are sitting around the campfire as Twilight prepares to tell them a long and epic story, filled with dragons and castles, pirates and magical artifacts, and scores of interesting characters along the way. Problem is, they're tired and want to hear the whole story in 10 minutes.
Oh boy...
Just how many examples of tropes can be crammed into one single page? Let's find out!:
- Big Bad: Schemington, who wished to strangulate our heroes and wants the Necklace of Anti-Fire for his own ends.
- The Chosen One: It had been prophesised that Protagon is the one destined to defeat Schemington.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: All over the place.
- Defeat Equals Explosion: How Schemington meets his end.Schemington: Well, what do you know? I blew up.
- The Dragon: Tyrannis, Schemington's number two!
- Evil Laugh: Schemington is very fond of these.
- Flat Character: All the characters to an extent. Justified because there's no room for Character Development when you're trying to tell a story under ten minutes.
- Heel–Face Brainwashing: Protagon turns Tyrannis to her side via Jedi Mind Trick.
- Insistent Terminology: They are not bandits. They be land pirates!
- Jedi Mind Trick: Protagon uses this on Tyrannis to turn him good. Didn't work so well when she tried to use it on a group of land pirates.
- Major Injury Underreaction: Schemington doesn't seem that fazed about exploding.
- MacGuffin: The Necklace of Anti-Fire.
- Meaningful Name: Protagon is The Protagonist and Kickside is her sidekick.
- Names to Run Away from Really Fast: In case you didn't know Schemington and Tyrannis (before his Heel–Face Brainwashing) were bad guys.
- One-Winged Angel: Schemington tried to do this. He blew up for his troubles.
- Show Within a Show: A large portion of the fic is the story Twilight was telling the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
- Sliding Scale of Plot Versus Characters: Very heavy on the extremely fast plot, not that there's nothing wrong with that.
