Fanfic: The Fanseries
"The Fanseries" is a Hetalia Axis Powers fanfiction written by author BFTLandMWandSEK. The series is a satire view of the fandom and focuses mainly on two Original Characters: Sherry and Larry Sue.

The first installment,"The Fangirl", is about Sherry Sue: a France X England shipper with an irrational hatred for the ever unpopular Seychelles. One day, she wakes up to discover that she is stuck in Seychelles's body until she can get either France or England to fall in love with her (thus ruining her favorite pairing). She is guided along the way by Turkey, AKA: Sadiq Adnan. But he is dealing with a secret of his own— one from a being called "The Voice".

The recently started sequel is entitled "The Fanboy" and takes place three years after the first. This time, it's about Sherry's younger brother Larry: a homophobic, Hetalia-hating writer. When a certain tragedy involving his not-girlfriend leads him to make a contract with a creep named Erwin, he is sent to Piratalia (Hetalia with pirates)and is stuck in Liechtenstein's body. With his mentor Alfred F. Jones, he has to get a guy named Gilbert to drink a vial of something unknown or else his not-girlfriend might die.

The series is often noted for satirizing the Hetalia fandom while having a surprisingly fleshed out plot and characters. Not a single character— OC or canon —is left undeveloped. "The Fanseries" also preaching the values of respect in inner and inter fandom relations. Many of the readers have reported being converted from being a Seychelles hater to respecting her as a character all because of this story. Full of humor, drama, and crack, "The Fanseries" absorbs your attention and leaves you wondering what's going to happen next. This fic can definitely be noted for being an eyeopener to the world of fandoms.

The Fanseries contains examples of:

  • Actually, I Am Him: When Sherry discovers that Estonia is actually Himaruya..
  • All Is Well That Ends Well: The countries at the end of "The Fangirl"
    • Unfortunately, Sherry doesn't get that pleasure.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Sadiq's watch and Estonia's constant presence.
  • Crazy Enough to Work: Sherry uses this technique quite often.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Both Sadiq and Sherry have done this at one point of time due to separate love troubles.
  • Everyone Is Gay: In the Gauken Hetalia universe, the roles of heterosexuality and homosexuality are switched. So instead of the vast majority of people being straight, they are all gay.
    • Sadiq did state that at one point, everyone was bisexual, but the majority of them forgot about that over time.
      • Though everyone's sexuality in "The Fanboy"— minus Larry's —is bisexual.
  • Face Palm: Every one in the series has done this at least once, especially Sherry, Sadiq, and Larry.
  • {Fangirl}: Sherry
  • Head Desk: Sherry after an incident with America and Denmark.
  • Heroes Want Redheads: Much of "The Fangirl" contains implication that Sherry and Sadiq are in a relationship. When looked at it that way, this trope is used.
    • Sadiq does mention that he likes gingers.
    • And let's not forget about Agatha.
  • Het is Ew: This is played to the extreme. In "The Fangirl", every country that loves someone of the opposite gender is called a "straghtie" and his discriminated against. This grew so bad that Germany attempted suicide multiple times.
  • Love Dodecahedron: Basically every single love relationship in "The Fangirl"
  • Mentor Archetype: Sadiq's an interesting example of this.
    • So far, Alfred has yet to really proved himself as one.
  • Moment Of Awesome: Iceland and everything he does.
    • Germany after he tried to kill himself
  • The Not-Love Interest: Can be said about Sherry and Sadiq.
  • Official Couple: Sherry/Seychelles and Iceland, France and England, Prussia and Liechtenstein ( latter Liechtenstein and Italy, Germany and Seychelles, Himaruya and Sadiq, and Seychelles and Sadiq.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: In the"The Fangirl", America and Denmark have this primary purpose.
  • The Powerof Love: Much of "The Fangirl" talks about how powerful love is and what it does to a person.
    • In one case, the only way for Sherry to break Sadiq's contract was for her to kiss the person who loves her the most.
  • Reference Overdosed: The whole series contain references to many of the author's fandoms. This includes The Avengers, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Film/Titanic
  • Running Gag: There are so many. Including:
    • Sherry's fascination with shea butter
    • America and his "Canada is just a theory" belief.
    • Sadiq and hanging people out of windows.
    • Sadiq and his love for "The Titanic".
  • Satire
  • Self-Deprecation: Much of Sherry's first person narration includes jokes about how ugly she is.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Sherry and Sadiq after England and France attempted to get them to hook up with each other.
  • Skewed Priorities: Sherry will sometimes purposely mess up in order to protect France and England's relationship.
  • Smart Ball: Can be said when Sherry suddenly realizes that Estonia is Himaruya
  • Snark Ball: Sherry catches this a lot during the final fight scenes when she can quickly snap replies to Himaruya's arguements. She even goes as far as to comment on how odd it was for her to suddenly be so much smarter.
  • So Unfunny It's Funny: A lot of the narration is like this.
  • The Social Expert: Iceland.
  • Something That Begins with "Boring": France, England, Iceland, and Sadiq do this when they are trapped in a closet.
    • They litterally play I Spy.
  • The Straight Man: Sadiq and Larry
    • When it comes to the oddity of the Gakuen Hetalia universe, Sherry sometimes plays this role.
  • Team Dad: Sadiq
  • True Love's Kiss: In order to get out of Seychelles's body, Sherry has to kiss either France or England.
    • In order for Sherry to break Sadiq's contract, she had to kiss the person who loves her the most.
  • Villainesses Want Heroes: Himaruya to Sadiq.
