Queen Elsa of Arendelle needs a successor eventually, but she is unable to bear children herself. Her younger sister Anna is her only hope of having a heir. The problem is that Anna is in love with a commoner and, under Arendelle's laws, a product of their union would be illegible to succeed Elsa. It seems as if Anna would have to breakup with her boyfriend Kristoff, but Kristoff discovers a way around the issue: there's a potion that can allow another woman to act as Elsa's surrogate.
This resolution, however, bring its own share of problems. Namely, that the child wouldn't be considered a legitimate heir. The solution is that Elsa would need to marry her surrogate.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Arranged Marriage: Princess Cristina of the Italian kingdom Venetia is shipped off to marry Elsa by her parents. Her step-mother and father think that the marriage will allow Cristina to save face after disgracing herself and their family. Cristina is initially less than pleased about the ordeal.

- Named by the Adaptation: Elsa and Anna are from the "Árnadalr" bloodline, which is the closest thing they have to a surname.
- Shout-Out: The kingdom of "Dubois" is named after Blance from A Streetcar Named Desire.
