Syren Sinks

This is a 4-chapter work and it is now completed. It has some spoilers for the new episodes of Season 2.
This fanfic contains examples of:
- Action Girl: Ondine gets a chance after losing her powers to finish the fight with Hawk Moth.
- Alternate Universe Fic: A What If? with the change that Syren makes a more effective attack on Ladybug when she comes down after her alone, nearly drowning her and capturing her Miraculous.
- Badass Normal: The final fight between Chat Noir and Hawk Moth/Hawk Bug ends when Ondine outflanks the villain, puts him in a chokehold, and yoinks his earrings.
- Bad Boss: Syren finds herself turned back to Ondine and stabbed by Hawk Moth for letting her hostage be rescued, even though she turned over Ladybug's Miraculous to him.
- Blessed with Suck: Chat Noir finds his water-power flippers less effective when Hawk Moth takes on Ladybug's powers and cures the flood.
- Good Powers, Bad People: Hawk Bug is able to use Ladybug's powers to purify akumas and create World Healing Waves, but he's still the villainous Gabriel Agreste.
- I Have Your Wife: In this case, superhero partner. Marinette is held hostage to draw in Chat Noir; her identity is already compromised to the villains in this case.
- Relationship Upgrade: The fanfic ends with Adrien and Marinette willing to go on a date and find out more about each other.
- Trapped in a Sinking Car: Marinette is stuck in a window grill in a near-fatal deathtrap by Syren.
- The Dog Bites Back: Ondine had her akuma rescinded (keeping her memories of being Syren), then was stabbed by Hawk Moth for failing to meet his standards before taking the earrings and becoming Hawk Bug. When she is revived by Hawk Bug's World-Healing Wave, she is the one who defeats him in the end.
- The Unmasking: Ladybug loses her secret identity to Syren, Kim, and Hawk Moth. She also reveals it to Chat Noir after he rescues her.
- Ungrateful Bastard: When Syren gives Hawk Moth the Ladybug Earrings, he snatches them away and depowers Ondine before killing her because she failed to retrieve the Cat Ring. When she is revived, she bites back against him.
- You're Not My Father: When Hawk Bug tells Chat Noir that he's his father and he should obey him, Chat tells him that he's no longer his father after he hurt so many people, especially Ondine.
