Fanfic / Shadow of the Guardian

Go To

Shadow of the Guardian is a completed The Transformers Fan Fic written by Conveyus-Prime, with input from Shebakoby. Set in Sheba's fanficverse, it introduces a new type of "Organic Transformer" called a "Hunter" with the design of a wolf with bat wings that is proficient in Magic based on Materia and Mako energy. The Hunters were created with the purpose of capturing Organic Transformers of the flying puma type, and Andromeda, the Hunter introduced in this story, has been sent to capture Sheba for her Master.

Shadow of the Guardian provides examples of:

  • Continuation Fic: Set during Prisoner of Destiny.
  • Continuity Nod: Megatron makes use of the Solar Power Tower plans Sheba stole from the Autobots as a prank in Prisoner of Destiny.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Averted when Andromeda proves to be about equally matched with Sheba, and initially defeats her on their first encounter. Played straight when Andromeda attacks the Decepticons.
  • Desperation Attack: Like Sheba, Andromeda also has Limit Breaks.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Megatron. It's initially a mystery why Megatron would attack Andromeda to prevent her from taking Sheba, and he's less than forthcoming when questioned about it later. We later find out why in The Big Capture of 1999-2006.
  • Evil Counterpart: Andromeda appears to be this, to Sheba; even though, technically speaking, neither Sheba nor Andromeda are actually evil.
  • Flash Back: How we find out Megatron has a Guardian of his own named Starfire, who had also been the target of a Hunter, which failed to capture her.
  • Healing Spring: Subverted. A Mako pool bubbles up in the volcano at Autobot Headquarters, but it's potentially lethal to the Autobots. Played straight with Andromeda, as she's the only one that can benefit from its effects.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Andromeda's Blind Obedience to her Master, initially.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Megatron is curious about the Hunter and believes the Autobots have information about her, so he orders the capture of Perceptor and some others to interrogate. This has the unfortunate side effect of leading to Andromeda discovering the location of the Decepticons' Undersea Base.
  • Summon Magic: Andromeda has access to a number of Materia Summons, including Hades and Ramuh.
  • Super-Persistent Predator: Number 91, a Feral Sweep.
  • Status Effects: Because of the limitations of Sheba's junctionable resistances to status effects, Andromeda is able to disable her with Sleep, and then Confuse.
  • You Do NOT Want To Know: Andromeda is very tight-lipped about what will happen if she fails in her mission, among other things.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Soulreaver, Andromeda's Seeker Confidant, is slated to be executed if Andromeda fails in her mission to capture Sheba.
