"Convinced by Blake to follow her out of the White Fang, Adam finds himself forced to mingle with humans in Beacon Academy, namely in his new team: RWAY("Rua"). Now, he must struggle both with his hatred and his team's... eccentricities, all while villains and even his own former organization rise to challenge Remnant's very way of life."
FanFiction.Net summary

In this RWBY fanfic by Gleaming-Onyx, a more open Adam finds himself in the place of Blake, resulting in a AU where everything is Darker and Edgier. The differences pile up slowly, at first just being different character dynamics, but build into drastic changes that leave you on the edge of your seat.

Red Sun Over Beacon contains examples of.

  • Adaptational Expansion: A lot more focus is given to the faunus, with them being given an origin as being the creations of Salem. The origins of the faunus have yet to be touched in RWBY canon.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Adam even before the divergence from canon is more moral than his canon self.
  • Amicable Exes: Blake and Adam
  • An Arm and a Leg: Roman's leg is damaged beyond repair after the fight at the docks, and has a prosthetic built for him. Of course, it comes with a gun, much to Weiss' annoyance when she refused to attack it before she knew about it.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Team RWAY is pronounced as 'Rua'. The Irish for red hair.
  • Collateral Damage: A mech running down a highway at top speed will have a civilian death toll, a detail ignored in the canon.
  • Darker and Edgier
  • Dysfunction Junction: Team RWAY, lampshaded at the end of Volume two.
  • Face–Heel Turn: After learning of how the faunus were creations of Salem and how Ozpin once tried to destroy them, Blake ends up turning to the villains' side.
  • Fantastic Racism: How faunus are treated even in a more liberal kingdom such as Vale is given focus.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Adam and Almond's origin show them to be this.
  • Gilligan Cut: The series starts with Adam and Blake having a much-needed talk about the direction the White Fang is headed, and Adam deciding to follow Blake's lead because she's intelligent and he trusts her. By the next scene, he's found out her plan.
Blake was an idiot and he was an even bigger one for listening.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Unwilling to kill the assassin Tacet Avalanche in cold blood in front of Ruby, Adam manipulates Tacet so he can kill him in self defense. Ruby intervenes, killing Tacet herself.
  • Good Is Not Nice
  • Heel–Face Turn: In comparison to his canon self, Adam Taurus ends up becoming one of the heroes thanks to his decision to defect from the White Fang alongside Blake.
  • Ironic Name: Adam's faunus Self Defense Club, SDC.
  • It's Quiet… Too Quiet: Tacet Avalanche's semblance.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Weiss believes that Adam's club could become violent, proven with how many of the members do join the White Fang.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Blake in volume 2.
  • Not What I Signed Up For: Many of the Self Defense Club members who join the White Fang leave during the assault on Vale
  • Oh, Crap!: Mercury when he realizes he is not only hurt despite his Aura still being up, but that he's about to be dragged across the train by a blade across his gut
  • The One Guy: Adam is this on Team RWAY.
  • The Stations of the Canon: While the details of and leading up to many of the canon's events - the Initiation, Weiss' fight with the Boarbatusk the fight on the docks, the fight on the highway, the CCT infiltration and dance, the reconnaissance mission of Mountain Glenn, etc. - change drastically, the events themselves nearly all play on schedule. However, with JNPR's loss in the first round of the Vytal Festival, this may be averted in the future.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Team RWAY, they grow out of it, somewhat.
  • These Hands Have Killed: Ruby after the White Fang assault on Beacon.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Adam and Almond. Also, Adam and Winter.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Adam gets this from his teammates, old comrades in the White Fang and other faunus.
