Natural✿Sparkle Pretty Cure is a Pretty Cure fan series by Caits Meow. It is set in the same continuity as Pretty Cure Mirai ~ Spark!, although there is only limited amounts of crossover between the two.

2,000 years ago, humanity and fairykind joined forces against Empress Amias and her fellow demons, sealing them away in the heart of the fairies’ sacred forest. However, because of environmental pollution, the fairy magic maintaining this seal has weakened. In the present day, the seal on Amias and her court is accidentally destroyed, and most of the Element Fairies guarding the seal are scattered to the winds.

When student council president Shika Morikawa and the Element Fairy Crocus get caught up in the demons’ initial strike, their shared desire to protect the Earth creates a miracle - the birth of Cure Petal, a human warrior empowered by fairy magic. Shika is soon joined by three of her fellow high schoolers, who gain Element Fairy partners of their own. Together, they fight to preserve their beautiful planet from those who would seek to strip it of its resources.

The story is in-progress and can be read here.

Natural✿Sparkle Pretty Cure provides examples of:

  • By the Power of Grayskull!: "Let's Sparkle! Natural Metamorphosis!"
  • Cast Full of Gay: Much like its predecessor, nobody in the core team is straight, and numerous characters are textually queer.
  • Elemental Powers: Each member of Pretty Cure controls one of the four classical elements. The Element Fairies also possess these kinds of powers, naturally.
  • Elsewhere Fic: Like a lot of Precure fanfics.
  • Flight: Pretty Cure has this as an intrinsic part of their power set in this series, thanks to their powers stemming from fairy magic.
  • Green Aesop: The main villains are a group of destructive hyper-capitalists who put their desire for pleasure over Earth’s well-being and escaped because of the pollution affecting Earth. Humanity's responsibility to care for nature is also a recurring topic.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: While not heterosexual (the former is a lesbian, the latter is aromantic), Ai and Ayaka fit this mold. The pair are incredibly close, to the point of being mistaken for a couple, but Ai makes it clear that while she loves Ayaka, there is no romantic attraction between the two.
  • Precursor Heroes: Pretty Cure's predecessors, a team of fairies that fought off Amias and her fellow demons two thousand years ago. Particular attention is given to Selene, aka Cure Astra, the fifth member of the team whose Heroic Sacrifice allowed the demons to be sealed away.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: The villains were this for a good two thousand years until a forest-clearing operation destroyed the seals on said can by mistake.
  • Shout-Out: The protagonists are empowered by fairy magic in order to fight demons unsealed by pollution.
  • Supervillain Lair: Castle Amias
  • Transformation Trinket: Pretty Cure's wristwatch-esque Sparkle Braces.
  • Villain Teleportation: Much like the canon series, the villains employ this when arriving or fleeing the scene.
