2,000 years ago, humanity and fairykind joined forces against Empress Amias and her fellow demons, sealing them away in the heart of the fairies' sacred forest. However, because of environmental pollution, the fairy magic maintaining this seal has weakened. In the present day, the seal on Amias and her court is accidentally destroyed, and most of the Element Fairies guarding the seal are scattered to the winds.
When student council president Shika Morikawa and the Element Fairy Crocus get caught up in the demons' initial strike, their shared desire to protect the Earth creates a miracle - the birth of Cure Petal, a human warrior empowered by fairy magic. Shika is soon joined by three of her fellow high schoolers, who gain Element Fairy partners of their own.
