- Dramatic Irony: In her time in the city, Kanata laments that despite being freed by her captors, she can't still go home.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: The Izumi Family, and how
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Yui notices that Calista has a daughter, and uses this to make Calista surrender instead of being killed like another.
- Flashback Nightmare: Soujiro suffers one reminding him of the day when Andou Faralon and his gang raided his house and kidnapped Kanata.
- A Hero to His Hometown: After stopping a dangerous robbery, Yui is considered one by the citizens and to colleagues, a role model for the rookies in the force
- I Miss Mom: Konata expresses those feeling about her mom to Miyuki when they are at the temple
- Hidden Depths: Miyuki discovers Konata's depths at the temple
- Missing Mom: Konata's mom, as she was kidnapped when Konata was just a baby
- My Greatest Second Chance: Yui has the luck to have one as her soul enters into a special spiritual domain where a soul gave her a second chance
- Not Quite Dead: By the time Kanata was rescued, she was considered by the records to be deceased.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Miyuki quickly asks Konata if she was alright as at that point Miyuki always saw Konata as an eccentric, but a cheerful person who never let anything get her down.
- Open-Minded Parent: In the sequel, Kanata seems supportive of Konata dating Miyuki.
- Stepford Smiler: Konata reveals to Miyuki that she is one and that she doesn't want any of the others besides Miyuki to find it out.
- Spared by the Adaptation: In this fanfic, Kanata Izumi was only kidnapped, but still she was absent for most of Konata's lifetime.
- Talking to the Dead: After the events in the shrine, Konata revealed to Miyuki in the ramen restaurant that she planed to visit Kanata's grave the next day so she can be in peace with her. Little she did know that her mom was alive and about to reunite with her a few moments later.
- Tears of Joy : Every member of the Izumi family does this when they reunite again with Kanata. Especial mention to Konata
- Tragic Keepsake: Konata has one cat keychain that her mother wanted to give to her when she grew up enough and gives it to Miyuki after deciding to move on. The same day, Miyuki returns it to Konata after she reunites with her mom again.
