Lifecycle of a Rose

The story is a character exploration of Summer Rose, starting from Yang's birth to Summer's death. It was published in 2018 and thus is speculative on Summer's nature.
Lifecycle of a Rose provides examples of:
- Alliterative Name: Alliteration is one reason why Taiyang opted to name Ruby "Ruby Rose" instead of "Ruby Xiao Long".
- Death Fic: The story ends with Summer's death.
- Downer Ending: Summer dies alone on a mission at the end of the story.
- One-Steve Limit: Averted and referenced when Qrow questions Taiyang on naming his daughter "Yang".
- Panicky Expectant Father: Taiyang was a nervous wreck during Yang's birth. He was also this way during Ruby's birth, but less so.
- Pregnancy Test Plot: Summer gets nervous about telling Taiyang that she's pregnant. They're already taking care of the toddler-aged Yang, so Summer worries that Tai might not want a second baby. However, Taiyang takes the news happily.
- Screaming Birth: Raven screamed a lot during Yang's birth.
