I Thought I Wanted This is a Continuation She-Ra and the Princesses of Power fic written by Athetos that focuses on Adora's relationships with both Catra and Glimmer.

After saving the world, Adora and Catra are finally together, and more than ready to put their past behind them and march towards the future that Adora saw in the Heart. Sadly, things are never simple, and no amount of love or forgiveness can heal the scars they've inflicted on each other. As their relationship falls apart, Adora realizes that perhaps Catra was never her destiny all along, and that Glimmer may have been her soulmate the entire time.

• Achey Scars: When Catra touches Adora's scars, they flare with pain and she has flashbacks to the Battle of Bright Moon.
• The Big Damn Kiss: In chapter 6, Adora finally confesses to Glimmer, and they kiss as fireworks go off.

• Covered with Scars: Even excluding the scars given to her by Catra, Adora is covered in them.
• Dance of Romance: Adora and Glimmer dance with each other at Bow and Jewelstar's wedding.
• Destructive Romance: Adora and Catra's relationship is unhealthy, with Adora having frequent flashbacks to how Catra treated her during the war, and Catra trying to pretend that the past didn't happen, eventually lashing out at Adora.
• Every Scar Has a Story: At the Hot Springs in Mystacor, Adora is able to recall most of the stories behind her scars. For the few that she doesn't remember, Glimmer does.
• False Soulmate: Adora assumes Catra is her soulmate based off the vision she was given in the Heart, but slowly realizes that she and Catra can never be truly happy together.
• Happily Ever After: The final chapter ends with Adora and Glimmer getting married, with no threats to their relationship or the world on the horizon, and both are learning to heal and move on from their trauma.
• Lap Pillow: Adora falls asleep with her head on Glimmer's lap after her panic attack in chapter 2.
• Post-Support Regret: When Mermista blows up on Catra in chapter 3, Adora realizes that she was wrong to always stand up for Catra, especially after what she did to Salineas.
• Sorkin Relationship Moment: In the final chapter, Adora visits Catra to tell her that she and Glimmer are engaged. While not a horrible conversation, it is awkward, to say the least.
