Fanfic / Fire Emblem Fates: Calamity

Go To

Princess Corrin has lived a long life in her home of Nohr alongside her family and her retainers, Flora, Felicia, Jacob, Gunter, and Ragna. However, when her father sends her on a mission, she finds herself questioning who she is. Not to mention Ragna having to deal with his very selective memory loss.

Fire Emblem Fates: Calamity is a crossover between BlazBlue and Fire Emblem Fates and is written by GodofGamingRWBY

Fire Emblem Fates: Calamity provides examples of:

  • Affectionate Nickname: Ragna calls Elise "Cinnamon Roll". Elise, in turn, likes to call Ragna "Rags", and is the only person who can get away with it without getting punched in the face.
  • BFS: Ragna's Blood Scythe, being large enough to be leaned on and is described as man-sized.
  • Battle Butler: Jacob is Corrin's butler and one of her retainers.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Par for the course with Hazama, he passes himself off as Xander's trusted retainer, but it's clear that it's all a ruse.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass:
    • A downplayed inversion in this case. Ragna serves as both Corrin's mentor and bodyguard, and it's clear that he outclasses her in strength, experience, and skill. While Corrin is no slouch, she just isn't on his level yet.
    • Another case of this in regards to Mikoto and Hakumen. Mikoto is by no means weak, it's just that Hakumen is... well, Hakumen.
  • Brought Down to Badass:
    • Ragna hasn't been able to use the Azure Grimoire for the five years he's been in Nohr. Doesn't stop him from fighting off and defeating all sorts of foes like Faceless and the various warriors he encounters. He gets back up to his standard level once Rachel reactivates the Grimoire, though he has yet to use any of its abilities.
    • Noel can't seem to use her Murakumo abilities or Bolverk. She is a skilled archer to compensate.
  • Cain and Abel: Jin (Cain) and Ragna (Abel). Jin serves as Leo's retainer, and he and Ragna had a clash at some point prior to the events of the plot. They don't remember that they are siblings, but it still qualifies.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Terumi was able to convince Garon to pardon Corrin and Ragna for their insurrection largely because he still needs them alive.
  • Cooldown Hug: Subverted. While Ragna was able to calm Corrin down while she was in her dragon state, she's the one to initiate the hug after she transforms back.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Gunter makes short work of Noel during the Hoshidan's trial.
    • Ragna was pretty disappointed with how easy Takeo and Takehiko were to defeat.
    • Terumi mocks the Ice Tribe's efforts to fight him off, as any who try found themselves beaten and slaughtered.
    • Hana challenged Ragna to a spar. He beat her in one punch.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: While Jin holds his own against Terumi well enough, he was still completely outclassed and defeated.
  • The Dreaded:
    • Terumi is highly feared for being one of Garon's most powerful subordinates and a merciless sadist.
    • Corrin only had to see Hakumen once to be completely petrified with fear.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: When Ragna went to save Corrin from the Hoshidan forces, he believed that they were either treating her like a prisoner or torturing her. Smash Cut to Corrin having a fun time with her birth family.
  • Evil Chancellor: Terumi serves as one of King Garon's advisers.
  • It's All My Fault: Both Ragna and Hakumen blame themselves for being unable to save Queen Mikoto.
  • Large Ham: Bang, Bang, Bang. Ragna quickly finds him irritating since he doesn't shut up.
  • Little Miss Snarker: Rachel, as usual. Though she's more courteous with Ragna than she normally is. A lot of her snark and condescending remarks seem to be directed at Corrin this time.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Rachel knows all the details of Ragna's past and has knowledge on Corrin's abilities, but doesn't tell them so that they can learn something and because it's fun to mess with them.
  • The Mentor: Ragna serves as one of Corrin's retainers and her personal trainer, making sure her skills and abilities are up to speed.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Xander doesn't want to go against his sister, but is unable or unwilling to disobey his father.
  • Prefers Going Barefoot: Corrin and Azura. Though in Corrin's case, it gets a bit of a reality check, as going barefoot everywhere causes her to start accumulating sores and blisters on her feet. Ragna even tells her that she needs to start wearing them to avoid this.
  • Rebellious Princess: Corrin defies her father's orders to execute people and is now effectively fighting against him.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Corrin refused to execute any of the Hoshidan prisoners. Ragna is quick to back her up.
  • Sixth Ranger: Bang joins the group upon Fuga's orders to aid them.
  • Split Personality: Corrin has a second personality which is basically her draconian half. Her draconian persona is far more aggressive, bloodthirsty, and spiteful, hating those who she believes failed to save her mother.
  • Supreme Chef: Both Ragna and Jacob are excellent cooks. Azura and Corrin love their food equally, which bugs them since they are rivals when it comes to cooking.
  • Take a Third Option: Rachel gave Corrin two options: Choose Nohr and watch as countless innocent lives die in battle, or choose Hoshido and watch as the ones she calls family die horrible deaths. She chose neither, something that Rachel (backhandedly) complements her for.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Despite Kagura serving Nohr and by extension Garon, he frequently butts heads with the king due to his madness and hunger for power. He also refuses to aid Garon by sending people from his provinces as it would endanger, if not outright kill, several innocent men, women, and children under his protection.
  • Training from Hell: Ragna subjects Corrin to rather brutal sparring matches, where she has to land a solid hit while Ragna is going all out. Corrin's draconian half views this with anger and accuses Ragna of making their life needlessly difficult.
  • Trapped in Another World: Several characters from BlazBlue are now within the Fire Emblem Fates world and have been there for the past five years. Some still retain full knowledge of where they are from and that they're in another world, such as Rachel and Hakumen, while others, like Ragna and Noel, can't remember where they came from.
  • Trapped in Villainy: After Terumi kills the previous chieftain and Flora is given control, the Ice tribe is forced to work for him and serve Garon or he kills all of them.
  • Traumatic Superpower Awakening: Corrin's dragon blood awoke when she witnessed her birth mother die in front of her.
  • We Have Become Complacent: Hakumen views himself as having become lazy during his time in Hoshido, as he's mainly fought Faceless and bandits, enemies well below his pay-grade. He views this as one of the reasons why he failed to save Queen Mikoto.
  • Weredragon: Corrin unlocks her dragon blood, letting her turn into a dragon and giving her a massive power boost.
  • Wistful Amnesia: Certain BlazBlue characters have this, retaining their personalities and methodologies, but not remembering their old world.
    • Ragna's got a pretty bad case of this, as he'll remember something but not understand it, such as his hatred for Hazama and Terumi without understanding why he hates them so much. When Rachel reactivated the Grimoire, he gained a small amount of his old memories back, indicating that his memories may be tied to the Grimoire.
    • Noel also can't remember her past and has been traveling the world as an archer for a while now.
    • Bang still remembers and devotes himself to his ideals of love and justice, but he doesn't seem to remember his old world, nor does he recognize Ragna when he sees him.
    • Jin doesn't seem to recognize Ragna as his brother, but he certainly remembers his desire to kill him in battle.
