Burning Up

The fic's premise is as follows:
Things take a different turn during True Colors and Anne is severely injured.
While Anne struggles to recover, Sasha and Marcy juggle their guilt, the duties of being the Commanders of a growing Rebellion, and some very... complicated feelings.
Meanwhile, Andrias is sending more and more fire power to Frog Valley in an effort to find the Core's desired host.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Adaptational Angst Upgrade: A good chunk of the fic expands more on Sasha and Marcy's guilt and regrets over their betrayals on Anne and each other as well as their other actions over the first two seasons.
- Body Horror: When Anne’s hands are burned by her powers going out of control, we get the injuries she receives described in graphic detail.
- Clothing Damage: Marcy self inflicts this on her chief ranger outfit in chapter 4 during a guilt induced mental breakdown, necessitating her Significant Wardrobe Shift in the following chapter.
- Disabled in the Adaptation:
- Due to the stress of using her powers causing her body to burn out even worse here, Anne ends up sustaining nerve damage on her hands.
- Marcy is shown to be far-sighted here, needing glasses for reading.
- It's All My Fault: Both Sasha and Marcy blame themselves for Anne’s injuries. Sasha for betraying Anne a second time and being unable to warn her about Andrias and Marcy for selfishly bringing her friends to Amphibia in the first place. A good part of the first few chapters revolves around them learning to forgive themselves.
- Missing Mom: Here, it is implied to be the case for Sasha's mother with her not showing up in any of Sasha's family photos and implied to never visit Sasha.
- Significant Wardrobe Shift: Chapter 5 has this for everyone where in addition to Sasha switching into her Resistance armor and hairstyle from canon, Anne, Marcy, and the Plantars also get new armors and outfits in the Resistance (due to being in it from the start here).
