Color Me Brightly
is an ''Amphibia fanfic, diverging in the third season, where the heroes are left with greater scars from defeating Andrias and the Core.
- Adaptational Gender Identity: In canon all three Calamity girls were implicitly cisgendered. Here Anne is trans, Marcy is non-binary, and Sasha is Genderqueer.
- Adaptational Sexuality: In canon we never got any clarity on Anne and Marcy's sexualities beyond them being Ambiguously Bi, while Sasha was confirmed bisexual by a pride sticker in the series finale. Here Anne is asexual but not aromantic, Marcy is aromantic, and Sasha is asexual grayromantic.
- Alternate Universe: In part because it was started before season 3b aired, but in this universe Anne managed to kill Andrias, and the Core was defeated without the Gems being destroyed, allowing Anne, Sasha, and Marcy to travel back and forth between the worlds freely, but with greater physical trauma to the trio and Marcy still having remnants of the Core in her mind that they can't get rid of.
- Body Horror:
- In this universe Marcy was more heavily altered by the Core than what we saw in canon. Besides having seven artificial eyes implanted in their face instead of just being part of the helmet, they're missing a lung and have numerous scars over their body.
- Anne's overuse of her Calamity powers during her final battle with Andrias resulted in her nearly losing her arms, and while the Mossman saved her it resulted in her arms being part-plant now, and if she doesn't expose them to sunlight enough they'll fail her, which is a major problem on Earth.
- The Kingslayer: Anne is called this for her defeat of Andrias before the story began.
- Polyamory:
- The tags spoil that eventually the Calamity Trio will end up in a polyamorous queerplatonic relationship.
- Sprig and Ivy are dating, but they're also in a relationship with Maddie, despite her being aromantic.
