Avatar Luz is a crossover between Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Owl House, featuring Luz as the Avatar many lifetimes after Korra's era.

The fanfic can be read on Fanfiction Dot Net here and here on Archive of Our Own.

Avatar Luz provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade:
    • Luz gets some I Just Want to Be Normal through her status as the Avatar, and is The Runaway purposefully because she was being sent away to learn more about bending, with no contact between her and her mother for years.
    • Amity's Abusive Parents are implied to be physically abusive instead of just emotionally, after their duel Luz heals Amity's leg, and she can tell from the injury that it was no accident despite Amity saying otherwise.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Luz is the Avatar, and can thus bend all four elements.
    • Camila isn't just a waterbender here, she's one of the greatest Healers in the world as well.
    • Rather than the Badass Normal he was in canon, Hunter is a firebender here and with some training from Luz, he becomes a serious threat after a few days of training, even being able to redirect lightning.
  • Big Bad: Caine, a madman bent on ruling both the Human Realm and the Demon Realm, actively attempts to kill Luz and Emperor Belos in order to ensure no one can stop him.
  • Death by Adaptation: Eda ends up dying near the end of the story at Caine's hands.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Part of Luz's reluctance to leave the Boiling Isles is that she believes that the Boiling Isles is in desperate need of her duties as Avatar, unlike the Human Realm which has outgrown the need for such things.
  • Fusion Fic: Fuses the Avatarverse with The Owl House, with Luz being the current Avatar centuries after Korra's lifetime.
  • Healing Hands: Camila is a skilled healer, who taught Luz. In fact, Luz is even able to cause Eda's curse to regress.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Luz feels like the role of the Avatar is obsolete and unneccesary these days, and runs away rather than be sent away for years to practice her bending, unable to see or contact her mother.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After mutating Amity and turning her into a demon, killing Eda, and causing Luz and Philip all sorts of pain, Caine is brutally murdered by Luz when she finally masters the Avatar State and uses every element (along with bloodbending) to destroy Caine's body.
  • Legend Fades to Myth: Any direct accounts of the 100 Year War were apparently lost centuries before the present. Luz is amazed that Bump has a book on it written before that.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Horace Clawthorne, the witch responsible for bringing the Wittebane Brothers to the Demon Realm, did so believing they were part of a legend to save his realm. Unfortunately, Caine was corrupted by the power of Eclipse Lake which gave the brothers their magic and after killing Horace, Caine began plotting to conquer the realms.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Luz and Hunter become half siblings when it turns out that Caine is their father.
  • The Runaway: Luz ran away rather than be sent away to practice her bending for years without seeing or contacting her mother, not unlike what happened to Aang before he was frozen.
  • There Is Another: Emperor Belos, who is actually a good person here, is an airbender who arrived in the Boiling Isles long before the Air Nomad genocide, meaning Aang was never the last airbender.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Despite the Human realm in this version being from the Avatar universe, the fact that humans can bend the four elements seem to be an obscure fact on the Boiling Isles, characters repeatedly being blindsided by Luz's bending abilities.
