Fan Nickname / Shadowverse

Go To

  • "KMR" - A shared nickname from the Granblue Fantasy fandom. Refers to Yuito Kimura, a producer of Cygames whom even the Shadowverse community considers to be a scapegoat. Was initially brought upon by the shared players between GBF and SV, his prominent appearances on Shadowverse livestreams also increased the awareness of fans to him.
  • Any of the _____verse names:
    • "Waifuverse" — A common nickname for Shadowverse in general, based from the _____verse Fan Nickname which has also reached Memetic Mutation in the game's player communities. This is coined by the players who know the game more for the fanservice-filled artworks than the complex mechanics, as well as the second anniversary poll winners consisting of entirely female characters.
    • "Aggroverse" — Another nickname for Shadowverse when the meta is very favored towards aggro decks. This is especially true in the Unlimited format than in Rotation where aggro decks are incredibly prevalent due to the dominance of powerful combo decks like OTK Roach and Dimension Shift that decimate control decks, hence players responding to combo decks with aggro decks to counter them.
    • "Firstverse" — Another nickname when a meta is very favored towards the player going first or when a class or playstyle is heavily dependent on going first (such as Swordcraft Explanation  and many aggro decks).
  • "Ding Dong" — Bellringer Angel's summon line, which has become iconic of the game.
  • "Dork" — Given to Dark Dragoon Forte ever since the rise of Dragoncraft's winrates starting Tempest of the Gods. Derogatory at first, especially considering Forte's awkwardly hammy voice acting (especially in the English version), but has since been adopted as an Affectionate Nickname and helped her fans paint her as an Adorkable character.
  • "Miracle Roach" — A Forestcraft deck focused around using Feena to create free Goblin Mages that draw up the key card, Rhinoceroach, before playing several cards in quick succession to inflate it to high power. Draws parallels from Miracle Rogue in Hearthstone due to how it executes one turn kills, even from a full 20 defense.
  • "JO Dragon" — A Dragoncraft deck focused on using Dragonclaw Pendant to amplify the damage of all its spells, without using any followers (except Servants of Darkness created by one of the spells or Grimnir). Named so in reference to an old meme involving a similar-looking crystal.
  • "Satan" — The name of Prince of Darkness in the Japanese release. (It was Satan in the original English release until they decided to rename it to Prince of Darkness.)
  • "Atomeme"/"Atometa" — For Lord Atomy, due to his Lethal Joke Character status. Starforged Legends adding tools to greatly improve the Atomy deck instead gave rise to the second nickname, especially when such a deck placed well in a tournament.
  • "Albertcraft" — A particular type of Swordcraft deck where its only Commander is Albert, Levin Saber, in order for Maid Leader to consistently fetch him. Its dominance in the late Rise of Bahamut format temporarily had the nickname applied to Swordcraft as a whole.
  • "Wallet deck" — Describing a deck stocked with many legendaries, thus requiring an obscene number of vials (or packs opened) to obtain the cards to assemble it. Formerly attributed to things like Dragoncraft and Swordcraft decks that stock their endgame with many legendary cards, this starts to apply to Rotation as a whole given that many a competitive deck in that format costs tens of thousands of vials to craft.
  • "Seventeen-year-old" — Eris, due to her Japanese voice actress.
  • "Suicide Blood" — Initially coined for Bloodcraft decks focused on self-damage to get themselves to Vengeance as soon as possible, the term has mutated to encompass Darkfeast Bat OTK decks due to its synergy with self-damage. A joke variant of this deck takes the self-damaging quirk to the point where it is likely to commit suicide rather than go anywhere fruitful. This variant was used by many to quickly help other players with the "Private Match victory without conceding" missions for a quick sum of rupies.
  • "Pepe the Frog" — Used to describe a Swordcraft officer, Vagabond Frog, which is infamous for going into Ambush at the end of the player's turn. There is a deck focused around summoning it and stacking buffs on it — it's not a consistent deck, but infuriating to lose to, earning infamy as a "troll" deck.
  • "Puck" — Given to Fairy Dragon thanks to a certain other Faerie Dragon
  • "Disco Derg" — Derogatory name given to the Discard Dragon archetype because of its inefficiency ever since its inception.
  • "Neutralcraft" — Not an official name. Used to describe a deck that either consists mostly of neutral cards, is entirely neutral cards, or has its most impactful plays involve neutral cards. Formerly attributed to Dragoncraft since their play point accumulation allowed for efficient use of strong but costly neutral legendary cards, but now can be attributed to nearly any deck utilizing neutral synergy from Wonderland Dreams.
  • "CoCK" — An unfortunate abbreviation for Council of Card Knights.
  • "Spellboobs" — A nickname given to most Spellboost-based Runecraft decks (typically D-Shift), because of Isabelle's Most Common Superpower.
  • "Jojophant" — A nickname given to King Elephant due to it's resemblance to the Pillar Men as well as looking like it does a JoJo pose.
  • The fan nicknames and abbreviations of characters from Granblue Fantasy may also apply in this game due to Reused Character Design and that a portion of the Shadowverse community might have already been familiar with them from Granblue. Such examples include the following:
    • "Yugu" — A nickname for Yggdrasil, taken from the first phonetic of her name in Japanese (which is pronounced like "Yugudrasil").
    • "Cag" — A nickname for Cagliostro, taken from the first phonetic / syllable of her name
    • "JK" — An abbreviation / nickname for Rose Queen, taken from her Running Gag in the Grand Blues! comics.
    • "DAO" — An abbreviation for Dark Angel Olivia
  • "Bloodshift" — Refers to Unlimited Bloodcraft decks that utilize Darkfeast Bat, which aims to preform an one-turn kill combo in turn 7 with the aforementioned card by inflicting a lot of self-damage to one's self and use Darkfeast Bat to inflict large amount of face damage to the enemy leader, which is often considered to be too similar to Dimension Shift note .
  • "Highlander" — Refers to decks built around Mjerrabaine, Omen of One and/or Heaven's Gate, which require the player runs only one copy of every card in their deck (except perhaps Mjerrabaine) in order to make the most of those two cards. The name originates from the movie of the same name Highlander with the famous phrase, "In the end, There Can Be Only One."
    • "Jerry" — A simpler nickname, and often because Mjerrabaine isn't the easiest to say or spell. Also used to differentiate from Hearthstone due to Fandom Rivalry.
  • NTR — Not the Netorare Genre, but an unfortunate abbreviation of the "Natura" trait from Verdant Conflict.
