"New to the region of Galar, or are you someone who played through the game already— seeking a new way to have an adventure?

This is a literate, trainer OC only server with developed mechanics to make for a realistic, fair experience. It's accurate enough to accommodate for those who haven't had any chance to play the game yet, as well as a new experience for those who've been playing and want to explore Galar in a new way!"

Pokémon RP: Galar is a Play-by-Post Pokémon Discord roleplaying server (Disboard entry here), set on Pokémon Sword and Shield's region.

Player Characters

     Beryl Francis Bellerose
A 16-years old (15 in his debut) boy who was born in Verdanturf Town, Hoenn, before moving to Motostoke, and raised by his mother, aunt, and sister, due to his father being extremely absent. He started his journey with the intent of bringing a bit of his hope and joy to the others, choosing a Scorbunny he dubbed Rox for this end. His emotions grew shaky thanks to the people he met, but ultimately he developed into an Anti-Nihilist.
  • The Anti-Nihilist: After Character Development. Now he understands some people suck and will never change their evil ways that soon, but still believes (when not on his bad days) the world is not that bad of a place, and that he can bring lanterns of hope for the few he can touch the hearts of.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: One of the nicest characters in the roleplay, with a team ruled by Rule of Cute to match. Doesn't mean him OR his team are easy to deal with once they're mad.
  • Keet: A perfect embodiment of this trope.
  • Large Ham: Especially when he's entertaining.
  • The Power of Friendship: He firmly believes in the strength of friendships no matter what most tell him.
  • Red Baron: His Challenger title is The Shining Hope.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Downplayed. When he started his journey, he was eternally optimistic over the possibility of transforming the nearby Jerkass bad boy into a friend. While he did gain the friendship of some of the originally-mean characters, he was the target of the evil character's bullying. After a while, he chose to become The Anti-Nihilist.

Player Character's Pokémons

     Beryl's Pokémon

Tropes applying to them all

  • Killer Rabbit: Basically the team's central theme: All of them are cute, yet dangerous in their own ways.

Rox (Scorbunny/Raboot/Cinderace)

Ruby (Cherubi/Cherrim)

Shocky (Magnemite/Magneton/Magnezone)

Silver (Wishiwashi)

Rose (Cutiefly/Ribombee)

Falkor (Drampa)

Pokémon RP: Galar contains examples of:

  • Aerith and Bob: Somewhat inevitable, considering the reasonable quantity of characters.
  • All There in the Manual: Word of God and details hidden from the characters IRP are usually found on the RP OOC chat, or the Headcanons chat.
  • Action Girl: There are lots of female characters able to stand up for themselves. Notable examples include Tip, Lucy, and Kayleen.
  • Big Bad: The server's evil team, Team Star Rocket (often abbreviated to TSR), seems to fit the bill at the moment. Doesn't stop some original characters in the dark depths of the Morality Kitchen Sink and/or the occasional Arc Villain from having their own spotlight through and through.
  • Darker and Edgier: Zig-Zagged. Sometimes, the tone can be on par with the canon games. Other times, it can get dark, especially when it involves some characters backstories.
  • Dysfunction Junction: Many characters have issues that usually take entire Character Arcs to be discussed and solved.
  • Fanon: It is set on a different continuity than Sword and Shield, and none of the events that happened there count in the server's story.
  • Fandom-Specific Plot: The entire server, as the canon Pokémon Sword and Shield events are not accounted for.
  • Morality Kitchen Sink: All kinds of charas in between genuinely nice guys to jerks of the highest caliber and evil villains are co-existing and interacting with each other.
  • Not Allowed to Grow Up: Initially was played straight, until after a while, it was Defied once birthday dates became a must. Since then, some characters began to have birthdays.
  • Oh, My Gods!: Usually with god being replaced by Arceus.
  • Painting the Medium:
    • Music, especially linked with YouTube, is usually linked in the posts (especially battle themes).
    • Italics, bold, both and underline can be frequent in narration or speaking.
  • Pals with Jesus: Any character with a High-Tier Pokémon (as in, the Olympus Mons) can be considered this.
  • Red Baron: Downplayed. Some characters have an elaborate title they go by, mostly as Challengers of the Galar League (either self-made or given by others), but they aren't used as often as their actual names.
  • Sliding Scale of Silliness vs. Seriousness: It is mostly meant to be a lighthearted RP, but serious plots, region-endangering goals, and Tear Jerker moments aren't unheard of.
  • Story Arc: The High-Tiers, story arcs that can grant OCs with eight badges a Legendary/Mythical/Ultra Beast who suits their overall character.
  • Tournament Arc: Every two months, the Galar Champion Cup happens to decide which trainer is gonna be the next Champion.
  • Wide-Open Sandbox: While there is progress to make through the badge collecting, most of the plot is made by the players, with monthly events such as the Champion Cup and the TSR-connected events sprinkled through.
