Unfinished WIP graphic sequence/novel by Crowqueen, part of her series The Nine Lives Of Michal Piech. Drawn largely during 2002, got no further than the first few pages and general story overview (thanks to spending a long time trying to accurately draw a chess game in progress when the author does not play to any significant level herself), several drafts have been lost. Set in the 2,010th year of the Insulan Calendar, the interesting anecdote about this tale is that in 2010 itself, the author was lost in the middle of a World of Warcraft addiction, mirroring quite uncannily Algis' obsessions.
Algirdas Jurkunas, protagonist of Giedre is an internal exile in the Insulan Commonwealth. Growing old, he lives only to work, play chess, and sit in cafes with friends. But a ticket to the Insulan Chess Championships provides a ticket to a lost world that he is forbidden to return to - and the opportunity to settle an old score.
His opponent? Only his old comrade Michal Piech.
