  • The Bleeding Nun is a ghost haunting the castle of Lindenberg who can literally scare people to death. She's believed to be just a fairy tale, but then she actually appears and it is revealed that she and Agnes switched places, and the one standing on the bedside of Raymond after his accident is the Bleeding Nun.
  • Ambrosio uses a magic mirror given to him by Matilda in order to stalk Antonia.
  • Ambrosio attempted to rape Antonia (a fifteen year old) and when he failed, he called upon the help of the witch Matilda, who's a servant of Lucifer.
    • He attempts to rape her again, but Elvira catches him. He smothers her to death with a pillow.
      • He attempts to rape her again, by giving her an opiate, putting her in a tranquil sleep for two days. Since people believe Antonia to be dead, Ambrosio takes her to the sepulchre between the abbey and the convent, and puts her in a tomb. She awakens terrified, obviously. Ambrosio rapes her and when she tries to flee he assaults her. When Lorenzo and his men approach them, he stabs Antonia and she bleeds to death.
      • To add oil to the fire, it is revealed that Antonia is Ambrosio's sister.
  • Upon finding out she's pregnant, the prioress poisons Agnes and imprisons her in the sepulchre. She is forced to give birth to her baby who dies immediately due to the lack of proper care. She's found many days later seriously malnourished and in such a disfigured look that no one even recognizes her to be Agnes. An also terrifying note is that only four nuns know of this in the whole convent, and those four nuns regularly came down to her to insult her and tell her she will go to hell.
  • According to the text, the Inquisitiors give two options to an accused criminal: they either confess their crimes, or get horrifically tortured until they confess it. Ambrosio is tortured, while Matilda is sentenced to be burned on the stake (which actually wasn't common with the real Inquisition
