Noel Dyson, born Elsie Noël Dyson, (23 December 1916 — 29 June 1995), was a British actress best known for playing Ida Barlow in Coronation Street and Nanny in Father, Dear Father.

In 1938, she graduated from RADA and started acting in repertory theatre. When World War II started, Dyson worked with ENSA. By the end of The '40s, she was working for The BBC on TV, leading to a prolific television career.

In 1960, she was cast in what would become the long-running Soap Opera Coronation Street as Ida Barlow. Corrie was only supposed to run for thirteen episodes, but quickly became an audience favourite and it was decided to extend its run indefinitely. This wouldn't work for Dyson, who had to travel from London to Manchester to film the series, so she didn't renew her contract. The producers refused to recast the role, so Ida was Killed Offscreen, becoming the first of many Corrie regulars to be Killed Off for Real.

Following Corrie, Dyson was a familiar face on TV, but only in supporting roles. This changed in 1973 when she was cast in Father, Dear Father as Nanny. Dyson played Nanny in all seven series, The Movie, and the Australian Transatlantic Equivalent. After FDF came to an end, Dyson continued to play guest roles, and her only other starring role was in Potter as Aileen Potter, wife of Arthur Lowe's Redvers Potter.

She died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 78.
