Márcio Simões (Rio de Janeiro, March 16, 1962) is a Brazilian voice actor, and one of the most iconic voices in Brazilian dubs.

He graduated in civil engineering but never practiced it, and as he sought a career, including as a guitarist, he worked in radio before being suggested to become a VA in 1986, and hasn't stopped since, leaving his brand as one of the most versatile voice actors in Brazil. He's voiced so many Black actors - Will Smith, Samuel L. Jackson, Danny Glover, Wesley Snipes, Laurence Fishburne, Morgan Freeman - that some might be surprised he's a Caucasian, albeit white actors are also a lot: Ralph Fiennes, Willem Dafoe, Steve Buscemi, Kevin Spacey, Patrick Stewart, Alec Baldwin... Most of his characters automatically enter Baritone of Strength (if not Evil Sounds Deep), but he's also had his share of Large Ham, with one of his famous roles being the Genie from Aladdin, and using a cartoonish tone for characters like Daffy Duck and Stitch.

Tropes Associated with Márcio Simões and his works:

  • Celebrity Resemblance: By his own admission, he looks like Pete Townshend.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: The deep voice guaranteed many villainous roles.
  • Large Ham: He surely has fun in many roles, such as two of the biggest hams of Disney with Genie and Hades, and having become the go-to dubber for the Joker.
  • Man of a Thousand Voices: He manages to have both a distinct voice and talent to distort it, mostly going high-pitched (Donatello, Marsupilami, Stitch) and adding a lisp (Daffy and Sylvester). All the impersonations of the Genie also count. This even extends to different versions of the same character, as he voiced the Joker in both the serious The Dark Knight and in the comedic The LEGO Batman Movie, doing different tones for the two.
  • Underage Casting: He's played much older characters even from his middle age, having lent his voice to Patrick Stewart and Morgan Freeman, who are two decades older.
