Make The World Happy!

Happy Elements is a leading interactive entertainment company in Asia and is committed to bringing happiness to users worldwide. The company is divided into multiple branches across different regions that produce different games. Most prominently, there’s the Chinese branch under the name Happy Elements and the Japanese branch, known as Happy Elements K.K. which has become widely known for its successful male idol raising game Ensemble Stars!.

While the company Happy Elements has existed as far back as 2009, in 2016 Happy Elements K.K. launched two subsidiaries titled Cacalia Studio and Grimoire respectively to help players differentiate their games from the main offices. While games released under these subsidiaries are still distributed under the Happy Elements K.K. label, they’re credited by their respective studios within the apps themselves.

Tropes That Apply To Cacalia Studio Works

  • All-Star Cast: Cacalia Studio has hired various well-known Japanese voice actors to work on their projects, with almost the entirety of the Ensemble Stars! cast being filled with them.
  • Cash-Cow Franchise: Ensemble Stars! has become this for Cacalia Studio and maybe even Happy Elements K.K as a whole due to currently being their most successful game.
  • Cast Full of Pretty Boys: Ensemble Stars!!.
  • Colbert Bump: Ensemble Girls!! got this retroactively from Ensemble Stars! once it was officially revealed that they’re in the same universe. This was also invoked in the case of Helios Rising Heroes which was promoted within the Ensemble Stars!! app itself before the game was officially released.
  • Crossover: Has done cross-overs events between the works they created, such as adding Ensemble Stars!! characters into the Last Period and Merc Storia universe, and vice versa. There have also been cross-over with other works such as Uta No Prince Sama and Yowamushi Pedal
  • Darker and Edgier: Ensemble Stars!! compared to Ensemble Girls!!
  • Idol Singer: The main cast of Ensemble Stars!! are male idols. The games story also revolves around this.
  • Mascot: Doesn’t actually have one for the company itself, though they have mascots for the individual works they’ve released. For example, Subaru Akehoshi is the Series Mascot for Ensemble Stars!, even post the Updated Re-release that changes the games main story protagonists from Trickstar to ALKALOID.
  • Microtransactions: Due to being mobile games, this is inevitable.
  • No Export for You: For Happy Elements K.K games, anyway. Games from the Happy Elements main office have been translated into several languages including English, however those working with Cacalia Studio have shown no interest in translating their games for a western audience. That said, Ensemble Stars! at least had been localized in Chinese and Korean, likely due to influence from the main office.
  • Reclusive Artist: Most of the people working on Ensemble Stars! have their identities hidden, making it almost impossible to find what other projects they’ve worked on beyond that game.
  • Shared Universe: Ensemble Girls!! and Ensemble Stars!! take place in the same universe, though on a larger scale, this doesn’t affect the storyline much outside of it explaining the player characters initial characterization. The reason for this is most likely due to the fact that female characters are almost never shown on-screen in the Ensemble Stars!! universe (And vice versa for Ensemble Girls!! and their lack of on-screen male characters) with the exception of The Protagonist on the rare occasion that she cameo’s in another characters card and the NPC’s during the Work Mini-Game in Ensemble Stars!! Music.
  • Stealth Sequel: Or, prequel, as Ensemble Stars! serves as one to Ensemble Girls!
  • Updated Re-release: Both Ensemble Stars! and Ensemble Girls! got one in the form of Ensemble Stars!! and Ensemble Girls!! respectively.
  • Virtual Celebrity: The Ensemble Stars!! characters as of DREAM LIVE.
