Gary Shail, (10 November 1959), is a British actor best known for playing Steve in Metal Mickey.

His acting career began in 1977. Early on, he was known for playing young, punky types such as Spider in Quadrophenia, Steve in Metal Mickey, and Oscar Drill in Shock Treatment.

In 1983, Shail played Guy Raines in Johnny Jarvis alongside writing the songs and theme music. For this, he was nominated for the Ivor Novello Awards. In 1988, appeared with Michael Caine in Jack the Ripper as Billy White, a pimp.

Shail returned to acting in 2016 after a break, with a small role in Stranger, as a psychopathic cowboy. In 2021, he was reunited with some of the Quadrophenia cast in To Be Someone. To this day, Shail still composes and produces music.
