Bruno Choël (born July 19, 1954 in Sainte-Adresse, Seine-Maritime) is a French actor and voice actor.
He is best known for being the main French dubbing voice of Johnny Depp (since 1999's Sleepy Hollow, and including Jack Sparrow), Ewan McGregor (since 1995's Blue Juice, and including Obi-Wan Kenobi since The Phantom Menace) and Mark Wahlberg (since The Truth About Charlie), as well as a regular voice for the roles of Jason Bateman, Greg Kinnear, Jason Gedrick, Henry Ian Cusick and Matthew McConaughey. He's also voiced Joaquin Phoenix, Jon Hamm, James Purefoy, Rob Lowe and Ray Liotta on occasion. And Tom Cruise, once.
Animation-wise, his characters include Prince Eric in the second dub of The Little Mermaid (and its DTV sequel), Kenai in Brother Bear and Jon Arbuckle in The Garfield Show. In video games, he's best known for having voiced Altaïr Ibn La-Ahad in Assassin's Creed, Sephiroth in Final Fantasy and Nathan Drake in Uncharted (and Sully Sullivan in the film, amusingly).
Tropes & Trivia in his roles:
- The Other Darrin: Succeeded Philippe Dumat for the dubbing of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and beyond, along with the change in actors (from Alec Guinness to Ewan McGregor). Although in that case it's also the voice acting equivalent of Time-Shifted Actor.
