• An Aesop: Popular friends aren't always the same thing as good friends.
• Alpha Bitch: Two of them. Kaylie and Mackenzie may be popular, but they prank everybody at school like nobody's business. While that unto itself is simply malicious, they cross the line when they throw Tamika under the bus and frame her for stealing the school's chalk supply.
• Analogy Backfire: When Kaylie and Mackenzie are praising Tamika for unwittingly coming up with the black-and-white theme for the dance, they list off all the animals that are like-so. Among them is "exotic as a cow".
• Cassandra Truth: Kam really was distracted by a big talking fish.
• Chekhov's Gun: During the Black-and-White dance, Kaylie and Mackenzie convince Tamika that her "Kick Butt" bracelet isn't cool and has to go. She indeed gets rid of it, but one of the popular girls takes it. Later, it serves two purposes, as not only do the popular girls use it to frame Tamika, but its use is what convinces her they were the ones who stole the chalk.
• Evil All Along: Played with. Kaylie and Mackenzie weren't exactly angels to begin with, but Sonny later reveals that they're really adult chalk thieves by the name of Inga and Gunther, posing as students the whole time.
• Never My Fault: After Tamika is suspended, she tries to talk to Kaylie and Mackenzie in order to set them up to expose them. Their response is to tell her they don't talk to troublemakers. Bear in mind, they framed her for stealing the school's chalk supply and got her suspended in the first place.
• Peer Pressure Makes You Evil: Kaylie and Mackenzie convince Tamika to join in all their pranks because it will make her popular in their eyes. Tamika is hesitant, but only for a moment.
• "Scooby-Doo" Hoax: Complete with the "meddling kids" line
• Shout-Out: Luckily the red liquid splashed on Sunny was paint and not pig's blood
• Worst News Judgement Ever: Apparently a middle school class representative election is more impressive than Godzilla and Mothra fighting in the city.
