    United Kingdom
Official Name: United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland
Ideology: Social Technocracynote

  • Vestigial Empire: The British empire had long kept the people of the United Kingdom together, but with the collapse of the Empire the public's support for a United British Identity has faltered. This has lead to a rise in separatism in places in Scotland and nativist populism as migrants from former colonies arrive.
  • Big Brother Is Watching: Due to a longer and bloodier Troubles, The UK has built an extensive surveillance state.

Official Name: French Republic
Ruling Party: Union pour la nouvelle Républiquenote
Ideology: Anocratic Liberalismnote

  • The Empire: Through stronger investment into West and Central Africa, France was able to hold onto many of its African colonies, except for Mali, Cameroon and Burkina Faso, cementing them as integral parts of France and making France a major player in both parts of the continent.
  • Democracy Is Flawed: France has a strong presidential system where the president can overrule the legislature, with some even comparing the president's power to that of a dictator. In the hands of somebody like Emmanuel Macron however, the republic basically becomes a dictatorship where he holds absolute power.
  • Playing Both Sides: France makes deals and agreements with both the Soviet Union and the USA, asserting itself and the European Union it leads as an independent, pragmatic force on the global stage.

Emmanuel Macron

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_08_16_175110.png
Role: Head Of State
Party: Union pour la nouvelle Républiquenote
Ideology: Anocratic Liberalismnote

  • Villain with Good Publicity: To the West Africans, Macron is responsible for helping connect Mainland France to the African districts (providing jobs and infrastructure) and is thus hailed as a Hope Bringer to their desolate regions. The same can't be said for those in the Metropole, where Macron brutally crushes any opposition to his rule.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Macron genuinely wants to create a free and Democratic Europe, even if that means resorting to increasingly authoritarian and imperialist measures (like supporting Cameroon) to do so.

  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Trombetta and the National Renewal Alliance take down Italy on a path of authoritarianism, purging the liberal democrats and eventually leaving the EU altogether. That being said, he's not as bad as Meloni (who looks up to Mussolini and is an actual fascist that organizes the Second March On Rome) or Delfo Zorzi (a far-right militant with ties to the Japanese and far-right gangsters).

  • Chummy Commies: Downplayed Example. The reforms of Kosygin in the 1970s heavily liberalized economics and politics, albeit without challenging the one party state, leading to a more normalized if still competitive relationship with the USA and making Socialism more popular abroad.
  • Corrupt Bureaucrat: The Soviet's Bureaucracy's responsibility of managing the world's largest country results in a increasingly byzantine and labyrinthine system that managers exploit for political influence and large fortunes. Though concerning to many the strength of the Soviet Union economy manages to sooth most of their worries.
