Srikant Tiwari

Played by Manoj Bajpayee
  • The Ace: Downplayed. He is an average guy who just happens to be very, very good at his job.
  • Action Dad: He is one but his children don't know it because they think he has a desk job in a Government department.
  • Consummate Liar: Played for Laughs, but one of Srikant's skills is coming up with made-up stories on the spot - usually to gain the trust of a suspect but often to cover up to others about the nature of his job.
  • Deadpan Snarker: No one is safe from his snark - including his children. Some of Srikant's snarkiest remarks are at the expense of his son's un-talented but enthusiastic attempts at playing a range of woodwind instruments.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Srikant becomes jealous of his wife's friendship with her colleague, Arvind. He may or may not be justified in feeling jealous.
  • Happily Married: Averted. While he and Suchi love each other deeply, they have frequent disagreements because Srikant's job keeps him away from his family when they need him and Suchi (who doesn't know the actual nature of his job) resents having to be the one that is there for the kids.
  • Heroic BSoD: The Karim Batt incident results in Srikant having a crisis of confidence and questioning how T.A.S.C. is different from the terrorists it targets.
  • Manly Tears: He wells up when discussing a dead colleague and cries in earnest when another colleague is killed in front of him. He also breaks down briefly when his daughter is kidnapped and becomes tearful when visiting JK in hospital.
  • Papa Wolf: He proves to be one following Dhriti's kidnapping.
  • Parents Know Their Children: Played Straight when Srikant knows at once that Dhriti has been kidnapped from the fact that her phone was apparently "lost" on a local train. As he says, Dhriti has never ever lost a single thing in her life.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: He can take unscrupulous means to achieve his ends.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: He is incredibly foul-mouthed except when in front of his children.
  • Old Flame: He and Saloni were in love once - the audience never finds out why they broke up but they regard each other as The One That Got Away.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With JK.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He receives these on a regular basis - from his wife, his children, his best friend (and colleague), his daughter's school principal...

Suchitra (Suchi) Tiwari

Played by Priyamani

Dhriti Tiwari

Played by Aslesha Thakur
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: She is a mouthy 14-year-old in Season 1 and a rebellious 16-year-old in Season 2. Her rebelliousness, however, mostly stems from her angst at the breakdown in her parents' relationship and fear that they will divorce.
  • First Kiss: With Kalyan in Season 2.
  • Like Father Like Daughter: Her language is colourful, like her father (although she doesn't say the F-word until Season 2). Also, she is smart enough to figure out the significance of Srikant's seemingly banal comment about the importance of love and connections to play on her kidnapper's psychology and convince him to untie her.
  • No Periods, Period: She defies this trope - first by pretending to her school principal and dad that the tablet found in her possession was an "anti-spasmodic" to help with her stomach cramps and second by confronting her father when he refuses to explain to her brother what sanitary pads are.
Dhriti: Girls have periods and boys are dumbasses.

Atharv Tiwari

Played by Vedant Sinha
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: He is one to Dhriti although there are several Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other moments between them.
  • Blackmail: He is adept at getting what he wants from Srikant by promising to keep Srikant's secrets. Usually what he wants is pizza and ice cream but over time his demands increase to i-Phones.
  • Cassandra Truth: He has forever been telling anyone that will listen that Dhriti has a boyfriend but no one will believe him.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: He is the Blue Oni to Dhriti's Red Oni - when Dhriti, Suchi or Srikant are upset or have fought with each other, Atharv will always try to calm them down and make them feel better instead of taking sides or passing judgment like Dhriti.

JK Talpade

Played by Sharib Hashmi
  • Butt-Monkey: Downplayed but if there is a group of people eating at a restaurant and JK is one of them, chances are that he will be left paying the bill or struggling to finish his food as the others take off.
  • The Determinator: JK's survival instincts are such that Srikant describes him as a "cockroach". Despite being literally shot in the butt, JK manages to escape Raji and collapses only once he has reached the roadside. He is found a while later and taken to hospital, where he eventually recovers.
  • Married to the Job: It is implied that the reason he is single is because his job is not conducive to settling down and having a family. That does not, however, prevent him from trying to flirt with new recruits.
  • Nice Guy: He is a lot less snarky than Srikant and very loyal.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Normally he lets Srikant have the final say (probably as a result of Srikant being older and his senior in T.A.S.C.); but on one occasion when Srikant is ranting about Suchi, JK yells at him to shut up. Srikant is taken by surprise and shuts up.
  • Sidekick: To Srikant - although to describe him as a "sidekick" downplays his importance and contribution to T.A.S.C.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Srikant.

Muthu Pandyan

Played by Ravindra Vijaya
  • The Ace: He, like Srikant, is a Downplayed example. He is quick to appraise a situation and very effective. He is also the only one in the T.A.S.C. team in Season 2 to come out of every situation without any significant injury.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Initially he appears impassive and aloof to the North Indian team members but by Episode 6 he is joking and laughing with them.
  • The Stoic: He is the least likely of the team to show emotion or stress; for example, when Milind is killed he is shown comforting JK and he remains calm throughout the ordeal at Tigris Aviation.

Moosa

Played by Neeraj Madhav
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Moosa cries when he talks about how his mother has gone through so much (including seeing her whole family except for Moosa slaughtered by rioters). His love for her is genuine and gives Srikant the means to get an upper hand over him.
  • Hypocrite: He philosophically describes the death of those who have assisted in Mission Zulfiqar as a "necessary sacrifice" but when the Mission puts his mother at risk, he wants to call it off.
  • Kick the Dog: He did not need to kiss Mary again before killing her. It is implied he has sadistic tendencies.

Major Sameer

Played by Darshan Kumar
  • Agent Peacock: He is always fashionably dressed (with a penchant for expensive leather jackets).
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Averted when Sameer is captured and tortured by the Pakistani Army.
  • Big Bad: He comes the closest to being the Big Bad in the series because of his unquenchable desire to crush India - regardless of the fact that is not what the Pakistani Government wants.
  • Manipulative Bastard: In Season 2 he wins over the LTTE leader's support in planning a terrorist attack in India by having the LTTE leader's brother assassinated and making it seem like the Indian Government assassinated him.
  • Rogue Soldier: The Pakistani Government does not want to start a war against India; Major Sameer, though, has his own ideas...

Raji

Played by Samantha Ruth Prabhu (credited as Samantha Akkineni)
  • The Ace: She was the Tamil Tigers' best fighter pilot and also exceptional in physical combat. She can overpower men who are much larger than her and capable of killing with her bare hands.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Averted. While she is still beautiful enough to attract unwanted attention, Raji is a soldier through and through and does not care for her appearance. She is weather-beaten and over time gets a number of bruises on her face.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her whole family was killed by the Sri Lankan Army and she was gang-raped by so many men that she lost count of how many.
  • Driven to Suicide: The news of Subbu's death throws her into depression and she is about to bite a cyanide capsule when a phone call snaps her out of it.
  • Living Lie Detector: When Srikant tells a (made-up) tragic story implying that his son was killed in a terror attack, Raji responds by telling Srikant about her own past (see Dark and Troubled Past above) and ends with the pointed comment "and my story is true''.
  • Sex for Services: Raji does not care if she has to have sex with someone as a means of getting what she wants out of that person.
