    Lt. Garnet

Lt. Sharon Garnet

Played by: Christie Burke

The de facto Captain of Ark 1, having been one of the highest-ranking officers left after the entire command structure was wiped out. A clone genetically engineered with tardigrade DNA, she was placed upon the ship to test out her enhanced endurance, which came in handy when the ship was damaged.

  • Healing Factor: Her tardigrade DNA gives her a higher tolerance for radiation, which comes in handy when she has to manually fix a solar sail and gets bombarded with solar radiation. The radiation would have killed a normal human but only leaves her with severe burns that heal up after a couple days. It also makes her immune to the toxins in the comet water that incapacitate most of the crew; allowing Dr. Kabir and Alicia to prepare an antidote.
  • Master of None: She was trained to comprehend most of the areas of the ship so that she could run things if necessary, but by her own admission, she's not an expert on any of those areas, so she defers to the wisdom of those with more specialized training.

    Lt. Brice

Lt. James Brice

Played by: Richard Fleeshman

A decorated pilot, and the helmsman of Ark 1.

  • Mr. Fanservice: He is tall, auburn-haired and handsome, and consequently has enjoyed flings with several of the ship's female staff.
  • Secretly Dying: He has Klampkins, a fatal illness that was caused by one of William Trust's failed experiments.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He really hates spiders. Naturally, the cure for his fatal disease requires him to let multiple spiders bite him.

    Lt. Lane

Lt. Spencer Lane

Played by: Reese Ritchie

The second-highest ranking officer aboard Ark 1, and a Trust loyalist. Following a failed attempt to oust Garnet, he is relegated to being her second-in-command.

  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Happens twice.
    • He wanted to be in command of Ark 1, and finally got the chance when Garnet was briefly incapacitated by radiation poisoning. Unfortunately for him, that was also the day where he had to assign someone to undertake a dangerous mission, and he quickly got stressed out at the notion of losing personnel.
    • He worshiped William Trust and would have given anything to be his right hand. And then he was taken hostage alongside Trust and found out that Trust is an egomaniac and a coward.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After realizing what an egotistical asshole Trust is, Lane decides that maybe Garnet was right after all. After she makes an exchange in order to save him from Evelyn Maddox, he becomes firmly behind her.
  • The Resenter: He would have been in line to be the captain had Trust not added Garnet to the crew at the last minute, and he's deeply bitter about having to follow orders from a woman with a classified background.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: He doesn't get along with Garnet too well, and is only marginally more amiable with Brice.
  • Wrong Line of Work: He had one brief stint as the commander of Ark 1 and was abysmal at it, despite having been trained for the role. That said, he is a perfectly capable second-in-command.

    Eva

Eva Markovich

Played by: Tiana Upcheva

The de facto Engineering Chief.

  • Heartbroken Badass: She lost her boyfriend Harris in the first episode when the life support fluctuated, and has dedicated herself to making sure that the ship never falls apart like that again.
  • Wrench Wench: She is Ark 1's best engineer.

    Strickland

Lt. Felix Strickland

Played by: Pavle Jerinic

The de facto Security Chief.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's one of the nicest, most polite people on the ship, but he will absolutely wreck you if you endanger his crewmates.
  • The Big Guy: Both big and very skilled at hand-to-hand combat.
  • Gentle Giant: Despite his imposing figure, he's usually very gentle and soft-spoken.
  • Heartbroken Badass: He left his husband and daughter behind to serve on Ark I at William Trust's personal request. He later learned that his husband died aboard Ark III, while his daughter is still unaccounted for.
  • Straight Gay: He has a husband back home, but you wouldn't know it to look at him as he has no stereotypical behaviors; Cat learned this the embarrassing way after she tried to use her feminine wiles on him to get him to let her take an unauthorized shower.

     Dr. Kabir

Dr. Sanjivni Kabir

Played by: Shalini Peiris

The ship's de facto Chief Medical Officer, and its only actual surviving doctor.

  • Functional Addict: Early in the first season, she becomes heavily dependent upon amphetamines to keep up with the many injured crewmen.

    Alicia

Alicia Nevins

Played by: Stacey Read

A nineteen-year-old genius. Originally posted in sanitation, she is promoted to Head of Life Support with a seat on the ship's council after saving the ship from one of the first of its many crises.

  • Endearingly Dorky: Her unbridled enthusiasm for all things science and her talent for quickly picking up new skills has earned her a considerable amount of fondness from her older colleagues.
  • The Heart: Her idealism and knack for thinking outside the box keeps her older colleagues on the council from getting too cynical.
  • Motor Mouth: She tends to talk a mile a minute unless someone stops her.
  • Teen Genius: She's not even twenty years old but has racked up degrees in four different fields.

    Angus

Angus Medford

Played by: Ryan Adams

A farming enthusiast who managed to build a working farm on Ark 1.

  • Boring, but Practical: He is derisively referred to as "4-H Kid" and "farm boy" at first, because his projects are all comparatively low-tech, but his farm is invaluable to the ship, as it boosts the ship's food supplies while requiring relatively little in the way of resources.
  • Endearingly Dorky: His earnestness and enthusiasm have made him one of Garnet's favorites, and attracted romantic attention from both Alicia and Kelly.
  • Precocious Crush: He has a large crush on Garnet. When Cat gets wind of it, she advises him to find someone his own age, as Garnet would likely reject his advances.
  • Teen Genius: He figured out how to create a farm aboard a ship.

    Cat

Dr. Cat Brandice

Played by: Christina Wolfe

A celebrity relationship counselor and the ship's de facto therapist.

  • Shipper on Deck: She pushes Angus toward Alicia, and nudges Eva towards Brice. This takes on a somewhat sinister quality after it's revealed that she was placed on the ship to match people up to breed more humans for the colony.
  • Wrong Line of Work: She is pretty terrible as a therapist, being too self-absorbed to really care about her patients.
