* DistressedDamsel: She gets herself into danger several times early in the story, requiring her brother or Kor to help her. {{Justified|Trope}} as she's without her Spiria during those incidents, which renders her a defenseless EmotionlessGirl.

* SourOnTheOutsideSadInTheInside: Labrador may seem a cold power hungry man but in reality he is a man wracked with survivor's guilt and grief for losing his two of his friends (Kardia and Iola), losing contact with Tekt and Sydan and got his wife killed by Incarose. Believing that he was the only one left to continue their crusade against Creed, Labrador did everything he can even using underhanded methods to make sure that humanity can fight back at the cost of his family and relationships.

* DopeSlap: Hisui loves dishing this to Shing for (supposedly) trying to [[MySisterIsOffLimits hit on his sister]], being a [[CountryMouse naive hick]] from the countryside or just being an idiot in a wrong place on the wrong time. On the flipside, he gets one from Gall when he was getting out of line.

* VillainDecay: She starts the story as a seemingly invincible threat, but around the halfway mark she starts facing the party as a RecurringBoss and each loss makes her look more and more ineffective, causing Creed to constantly insult and mistreat her. She becomes so desperate she fuses herself with the bodies of Chlorseraph & Clinoseraph just to face the party one final time, only to be defeated again.

A young boy who wants to either save the world, become a grown-up or help Kohaku, depending on his mood. He has a very powerful sense of empathy which allows him to connect with just about anyone, both literally (via Soma Link) and metaphorically. Despite this, he can be quite a clueless dork in some cases, such as Beryl's flirting.

He uses the Soma ''Asteria'', a sword-and-shield combo, and his favored elements are [[LightEmUp Light]] and [[ShockAndAwe Thunder]]. He mainly uses sword techniques, and is one of two party members without inherent spells.

* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: Who his father is or what to him is never mentioned.

* IdiotHero: Hisui and Beryl would say so, but they're not really ones to talk. Most of his recklessness and ignorance can be chalked up to his young age and the fact he's a [[NaiveNewcomer Country Boy who's never been outside his home village]]. And to be fair, he's shown to be very insightful when it comes to matters involving Soma or Spira.

* MeaningfulName: His Japanese name is composed of readings that mean "weapon" and "heart". "Asteria" is the Greek word for "stars" (meaning all his evolved weapons are named after constellations and astronomers), but is also the name of a flower [[spoiler:Creed, Lithia and Fluora planted on Minera, hoping that it will become a peaceful place by the time it bloomed. This comes full circle when Kor brings Fluora's Soma Link plan into fruition.]]
