    Non Manaka
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/non_0.png

Voiced by: Minami Tanaka

The little sister of Laala Manaka. At first she helped Laala keep her Idol life a secret until it was no longer needed and throughout the series, began to grow more kind towards her. Eventually she became an Idol herself, becoming a lovely-type that uses the spin-off brand "Twinkle Ribbon Sweet".

General Tropes

  • Ascended Extra: She was a supporting character, until season 3 where she became a main character.
  • Ascended Fangirl: Was one for Falulu and pretty much anyone that was a rival to Laala. As of Season 3 she has become an Idol, something fans expected since Season 1.
  • Big Little Sister: Is more mature and responsible than her older sister.
  • Birds of a Feather: She got along imediatelly with Usacha and she became her manager, because they both share the same ambitions in beating their big siblings.
  • Child Prodigy: The youngest of the main characters and one of the most mature and intelligent, she even helped her big sister to study for her school tests. Not to mention that she was able to make her own idol unit, using holograms to perform.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Both her eyes and hair are lilac.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The responsible to Laala's foolish.
  • Heroic B So D: She disbands NonSugar in episode 123 after Chili and Pepper’s bad chemistry annoys the living heck out of her so much.
  • Meaningful Name: Manaka means "center". Non means "No" in French and music or sound in Japanese.
  • Secret-Keeper: She was the only family member who knows Laala's idol secret in Season 1.
    • She became this in Season 3 for a short while, regarding her identity as all three members of Triangle.
  • Tsundere: Acts as non-romantic one to her sister Laala, as she does care about her.

As A Student

As an Idol

  • Animal Motif: Bunnies.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Before becaming an idol herself, she studied all idols to create the perfect idol unit and idol personas and she did a three member unit with only one person.
  • Bunnies for Cuteness: Her spirit animal is said to be a bunny/rabbit, which in turn shows on her main Cyalume coord. It has FOURTEEN on it alone.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: As an Idol Non keeps her side-tail, but it grows to be knee-length.
  • Older Alter Ego: Like Laala she ages up and in PriPara, to the point of looking like her twin in this form.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: Her main cyalume costume is one of the most ornate in the entire cast.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Her brands theme color appears to be soft pink (along with white and pale blue) and this shows on several of her coords.
    • It's also worth noting that during her time as Kanon she was pink themed.
  • "Silly Me" Gesture: Since her coord change and pre-Making Drama pose are based off of her Kanon form.

    Chili Tsukikawa

Voiced by: Nichika Oomori

A gentle and withdrawn young girl Laala helped when she was new to PriPara at the start of Season 3. Originally she was a Lovely-type Idol using the brand Twinkle Ribbon. She is very shy and easily startled, which is why it surprised everyone when an older, haughty and stoic girl took her place sometime later. After this, Chili's entire idol persona was born as a Celeb-type that uses the brand Dear Crown.

General Tropes

As A Student

As an Idol

  • Animal Motif: After changing her Idol form she is often compared to a peacock, from personality to looks.
  • Anime Hair: Made further ridiculous after changing her Idol appearance. While it keeps its general shape, it appears a thicker and her cowlick is gone. The biggest change is her pigtails, which are now nearly waist length and appear to be a single straitened lock sticking out of two braids of hair on each side of her head.
  • Artifact Domination: After obtained a strange form of the Rosette Pact, it gave her the Celeb-type upgrade and her new PriPara persona. Because she wasn't strong enough to control it, it took over her while in PriPara. In this form she was a massive Jerkass, but returns to normal outside of PriPara. She admits to being aware of this side of her, but was unable to control it.
    • Eventually she is able to control it soon enough when Janis, frustrated that Chili refused to help her steal the Cyalume Tact ditched her. This caused her PriPara self to go through Defrosting Ice Queen, and by the end of the season came to cherish Non and Pepper and show them proper respect.
  • Hates Being Touched: Doesn't like to get dirty. Episodes 123 and 126 are subversions.
  • Mythology Gag: Uses the brand Dear Crown, which originated from Pretty Rhythm.
  • Ojou: It was revealed that she is from a rich family and as a Celeb-type in PriPara, she has this personality.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: The main difference between her as an idol and her normal Shrinking Violet personality.

    Pepper Taiyo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pepper_1.png

Voiced by: Nanami Yamashita

Pepper is a literal wild-child, having been raised in the jungle she is unfamiliar with the social norm and only believes in what she was taught or learned before being thrust into society. At times she lets her hunger get the better of her, which was also what led the others to finding her when she took their Mascots captive and had planned to eat them. Out of the three in NonSugar she appears to be the oldest. She is a Natural-type Idol and uses the brand Sunny Zoo.

General Tropes

  • Animal Motifs: Lions.
  • Jungle Princess: Which causes her trouble when adapting to society and social norms.
    • This is best demonstrated when she failed to bow to the Goddesses of PriPara when everyone else did, including characters like Aroma, Dorothy, and even Laala. The only other person not to bow was Chili.
  • Meaningful Name: Taiyo means "the sun", which could be a reference to the brand she uses, Sunny Zoo. Pepper can be used as a spice or condiment to flavour food, it fits her. It also fits into the Non Sugar theme, like her companion's name "Chili".
  • No Social Skills: Justified. Since she was raised by lions, she perceives people as various different animals (that she tries to eat), which seems to affect how seriously she takes them and she also tries to show friendship by "Licky-Sticky". This causes major conflict between her and Chili.
  • Raised by Wolves: She was raised by lions.
    • She respects Reona and Gloria, both of whom she sees as fellow lions despite their contrasting personalities and her own.
    • This is also the route of her struggle getting along with PriPara-Chili.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Meat.
  • Wild Child: Literally, she didn't have much human contact before.

Normal

  • Non-Uniform Uniform: Don't wear the pink jacket, use a different tie and wear shorts. She's also barefoot.
  • Prefers Going Barefoot: She goes barefoot most of the time, but only wears closed-toe shoes when entering PriPara.
  • Unusual Eyebrows: Not very weird, but in comparison to the other girls her eyebrows appear hairy. In PriPara they appear to be trimmed.
