Pat Finnerty

Guitarist, musician, and host of the show trying to “make it to YouTube" by discussing songs he hates.

  • The Alcoholic: Says he comes from a long line of them in episode 3.
  • Alter-Ego Acting: Characters like Probably An Asshole, his parody of John Bollinger, and the Hoop-shredding Gigolo.
  • Artist and the Band: His music is released under Pat Finnerty and the Full Band.
  • Author Appeal:
    • Pat considers himself a classic rock guy (part of why most of the songs covered are rock songs).
    • He covers Weezer because they used to be his favorite band.
    • He highlights Dr. Dog because he finds their music to have integrity as opposed to just wanting to make money.
  • Baldness Angst: Somewhat averted with Pat. He jokes about being bald but doesn’t seem all that bothered by it.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Anything to do with Train.
    • Kid Rock's blatant bigoted posturing is one of the only other few times that he gets genuinely heated, though he acknowledges that he's taking the bait because Kid Rock wants to piss people off.
  • Catchphrase: “Hey, how’s it going, Pat Finnerty,” and “Don’t click the link below.”
  • Fanboy: Said he “loves John Lennon more than his own parents.”
  • Deadpan Snarker: Absolutely.
  • Goal in Life: To get enough money to buy a hot tub. The hot tub could also be considered a Series Goal.
  • Glory Days: Mentions in the Weezer video that he wants to avoid being a "glory days guy."
  • Height Angst: Addressed in episode 8. Pat is 6'5", can't fully extend his legs while in the bathtub, and really wants a hot tub that will accommodate his height.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: A nice dude, and has a cat named Larry.
  • Mellow Fellow: Overall chill guy even when talking about songs he hates, though he is pushed to the limit a couple times.
  • Never Bareheaded: Pat is always wearing a hat of some kind on account of being bald as shit. He even has a hat that says "bald as shit" on it.
  • Noodle People: Tall and lanky.
  • Not So Above It All: Though he talks a big game about how much some songs stink in the videos, he admits that he's written some pretty bad songs himself. He even says that "Wayno Wayo," his song from high school, "fucking stinks."
  • One Head Taller: To Kim.
  • Sarcasm Mode: Constantly.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: The Kravitz Bowl has a segment counting how many times Pat says “shit” and “fuck” when talking about the songs.

Kim

Pat's girlfriend who occasionally appears in the videos.

  • Alter-Ego Acting: Plays a token female broadcaster in episode 5.
  • Foil: To Pat, music-wise. Pat is a talented and experienced musician, while Kim had only been playing guitar for a couple months by the time episode 3 was made. Despite her inexperience she still does a pretty good job playing the parts to “Beverly Hills.”
    Pat: "So I don't have a talkbox—"
    Kim: "What's a talkbox?"
  • Internet Stalking: Says she did this to Pat when they first started dating.
  • Running Gag: After she appears, Pat always ends her segment by saying “Kim!”
  • This Is Your Song: Her verse on the August is Falling song she’s featured in is just about how Pat won’t write a song about her.

The Blinds-To-Go Guy

The guy from Blinds-To-Go.

  • The Everyman: Pat hypes him up a lot even though there isn't anything all that extraordinary about him—he's just a regular guy Pat thinks is funny.
  • Hidden Depths: Subsequent appearances of BTGG reveal that he enjoys watching wrestling and sometimes livestreams on Twitch.
  • Theme Tune: Pat wrote him a theme song that he cut for time for the Kravitz Bowl.
  • This Is Your Song: The August is Falling song "Btgg" is an ode to him, much to Kim's chagrin.

Lloyd

Pat's landlord.

  • Cool Old Guy: Seems to be older than Pat, who thinks he's hilarious.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Pat dedicates an entire segment to Lloyd calling "Try That In a Small Town" bullshit.
  • This Is My Chair: Nearly every time he appears in a video he's sitting in a chair on his front porch.
