Mongsuwan Family

    Adora Flora

Sara Wongsuwan

The son of Magical Mom. He strives to be a magical hero like his mother.

  • Ambiguous Gender Identity: In response to questions on whether he may actually be a transgirl, it was explained that right now, Sara needs to find out who he is as he goes, and that it likely will affect how he sees his gender.
  • Adaptational Name Change: In the original short film, Sara was actually named Daiki.
  • Heroic Lineage: Both an intentional and unintentional example.
    • In order to save Pailin from Iris, Sara grabs her dropped wand and accidentally activates it himself when he tries returning it to her, becoming the Magical Boy "Adora Flora"
    • Sara's father expects Sara to one day follow in his footsteps as a State Superhero, and part of his treatment of Sara stems from wanting to "harden" him for that inivitability.
  • Quest for Identity: A major theme of the webtoon is Sara discovering more about himself and embracing his best version.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Downplayed since he's still rather young, but he used to love his mom being a Magical Girl when he was five, and often dreamed of being a Magical Duo with her when he grew up. In the present though, he's mortified by her being a Magical Girl, and resents how she's not "normal". While he later admits he does still love that she's one and still wants to be one himself deep down, the fear of facing scorn from his classmates caused him to bury those feelings. It's later implied to also be side-effect of his fathers emotional abuse towards him and his mother.

    Magical Mom

Pailin Wongsuwan

The titular heroine, she wishes the best for her son.

  • Action Mom: She is called Magical Mom for a reason, being a superhero and a mother.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Unlike the original short film, where she was always known as Magical Mom, here she starts off with the alias of Magical Luvli.
  • All-Loving Hero: A large theme of the series is "Empathy instead of brutality", and this is reflected in how Pailin strives to reach out to enemies rather than just beat them.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: She's put on some weight since Sara was little, but she's still treated as good looking, Sara's class finding her cute when she goes to give Iris The Glomp.
  • Big Good: While Sara is the main focus of the story, Magical Mom is the one who is his main support.
  • Innocently Insensitive: When she turns into "Magical Luvli" again for Career Day, she gets so caught up in nostalgia and wanting to have fun with Sara like they used to, she fails to pick up on how mortified Sara feels and his class making fun of him, causing him to lash out her.
  • Meaningful Rename: She decides to change her name to "Magical Mom" after her battle with Iris, highlighting how important being a good mother to Sara is to her even as a Magical Girl.
  • Mum Looks Like a Sister: Sara's class all comment that she looks more like his older sister than his mother when seeing her for Career Day.

    Mr. Shogun

The family pet. He serves as Pailin's closest ally and eventually Sara's mentor.

    Sara's Dad

Name Unknown

The father of Sara. He believe justice needs to be strict in how it is dealt.

  • Abusive Parents: He believes it necessary to be hard on Sara, and wants him to be hard as him.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: He's one to the The Cowl Anti-Hero archetype occasionally found in Magical Girl series like Tuxedo Kamen. He's dark, broody, believes in eliminating threats quickly and harshly, and a recognized hero... all of which translate into terrible traits for a husband and father, as he diminishes Pailin's own achievements, embodies numerous traits akin to toxic masculinity regarding raising Sara, is more often than not absent in their lives, and is ultimately an emotional abuser more than anything.
  • Hate Sink: It is clear he isn't meant to be likable as he looks down on Pailin's positivity while calling her a fake hero and wants to mold Sara into his idea of what a hero should be.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: He dismisses Pailin's time as Magical Luvli as being nothing but a joke, even though she was Thailand's top hero. He similarly demonstrates traits of toxic masculinity, a Stay in the Kitchen mindset towards Pailin, and advocates for harsh punishment over Pailin's belief in empathy over brutality.
  • Sinister Surveillance: The finale of Season 1 reveals that he has secret security cameras set up in and around the house. It lets him find out how Sara has become Adora Flora and is being trained by Pailin as Magical Mom, something he's not happy about.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The reason Pailin backs out of calling him to help with a monsterfied Lucas. She realized he would likely use lethal methods against him.

Others

    Iris

Iris Evelyn

Former sidekick to Magical Luvli. Following Pailin's retirement, Iris turned to villainy.

  • Adaptational Heroism: There wasn't anything indicating Iris was a hero in the original short film. In the webcomic, she use to be Magical Luvli's closest ally.
  • Back for the Finale: After vanishing during the prologue, she returns at the end of the season 1 finale to call Pailin over the previous offer to get back in touch.
  • Batman Gambit: After seeing how Pailin's job as a daycare worker isn't exciting the class and how she wants to look cool for Sara's class, Iris convinces Pailin to turn into Magical Luvli again, hoping it would embarrass Sara enough to get him to lash out at her and distract her. His doing so manages to actually break her heart, weakening her enough for Iris to throw her around easily.
  • But Not Too Foreign: She's half-Thai, half-British.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Her hatred of Sara and his father while lamenting how Pailin has "fallen" sound like that of a jilted lover pissed off their ex stopped having fun and settled down.
  • Evil Former Friend: Iris was once best friends with Pailin before becoming a supervillain following Pailin starting a family.
  • Villain Has a Point: While she's completely off the mark regarding Sara, she has much more justifiable reasons to dislike Pailin's husband, especially considering his emotionally abusive treatment of both Pailin and Sara is made known.

    Andres

Andres Alvarez

One of Sara's classmates.

  • Big Damn Heroes: When Sara is having trouble trying to catch the monsterfied Lucas, Andres tackles him long enough for Sara to finally grab him.
  • Secret-Keeper: He agrees to keep Sara's becoming "Adora Flora" a secret so as to spare Sara the attention it would bring.

    Cop Dad

Carlos Alvarez

Andres's father and a police officer.

  • No Indoor Voice: He constantly shouts during his presentation for Career Day, with Andres's reaction indicating this is normal for him.

    Adam

Adam

Another of Sara's Classmates.

  • The Bully: He tends to pick on Sara a lot at school, something Sara lampshades when he starts crying in gratitude after Sara helps him.
  • Bully Turned Buddy: Downplayed in that, while not that close, Adam does ease up on Sara a lot after he helped him during Iris's attack.

    Stacy

Stacy

  • A Day in the Limelight: Season 2 starts off focusing on Stacy.
  • Implied Love Interest: There are hints that she has feelings for Sara and vice versa, though nothing that fully confirms it just yet.
  • Stepford Smiler: While she puts on an optimistic and helpful front, she has lingering issues regarding her parents being busy working, and hints that she might not be as happy to help everyone as she lets on.

    Lucas

Lucas

Another of Sara's classmates.

  • Face–Monster Turn: Quite literally as the amount of despair he feels from losing to Sara in tryouts causes him to turn into a monster. It takes Sara confessing to cheating and apologizing to change him back.
  • Jerkass Realization: When Sara manages to calm him down, Lucas admits that he looked down on Sara and admits that he shouldn't have viewed him as an easy victory against. That said, Sara admits that he understands why Lucas would feel he would have won easily.
  • Secret-Keeper: He agrees to keep Sara's becoming "Adora Flora" a secret so as to spare Sara the attention it would bring.
