    Crawling

Brenner Mantle

A Dark Craw with a tragic past. During the events of a devastating Ice Age, he left to join a band of adventurers to try and remedy the problem. His reward for succeeding was coming back and seeing his home had been destroyed while he was gone, his wife froze to death, and his kid son went missing. Since then he's taken all kinds of odd jobs in the hopes of finding his son again some day. Some of these jobs are less than scrupulous, however, which is how he found himself working mostly as a mercenary. During some unspecified event with Catus Relius Awling, he came across a device that gave him access to the powers of graffiti manipulation.
  • Action Survivor: During the events of the Shiver Empire RP.
  • All a Part of the Job: He could pick less risky jobs and contracts, or just choose a more calm profession to make his money, but ever since his first taste he's been pretty accustomed to action.
  • Angst? What Angst?: He isn't a peppy person, but he definitely doesn't show the depression he'd understandably have.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: His power of spraying sludge and manipulating it can definitely cause some serious damage or be misused. He's very careful with it, though, and isn't abusive or eager to destroy the environment in the slightest.
  • Beleaguered Assistant
  • Berserk Button: The Shiver Empire. Bad fathers. Catus. He can be pretty vicious when it comes to them.
  • Bold Explorer: Has traces of this in him, coming from a pretty isolated area of the world.
  • Character Alignment: Neutral to a fault. Doesn't partake in Chaotic activity intentionally, but does less-than-legal things in his jobs, so he isn't Lawful. What he considers Moral is open to guessing.
  • Character Development: He was a skinny, malnourished, depressed weakling in his first appearance. He's since become a stoic soldier with some neat new powers.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He's a Dark Craw, with scary burning red eyes. Totally not evil, though. Actually a pretty nice guy.
  • Defector from Decadence
  • The Exile: A deserter from the Koopa Kingdom. Not exactly welcome in that part of the world anymore.
  • Guilt Complex
  • Hates Small Talk
  • Perpetual Frowner
  • The Stoic
  • Stupid Neutral: Can be annoyingly unable to take sides sometimes, even when something extremely important hangs in the balance.
  • Weak, but Skilled: To contrast Catus, Brenner isn't very physically strong. He's mastered a couple weapons, though, and makes up what he lacks in raw power with his unique abilities.

Catus Relius Awling

A glorious relic hunter clad in the armor of a knight, seeking fortune and ancient riches wherever he walks!...also an obnoxious blowhard that's really closer to an honor-less thief than an archaeologist (as he likes to call himself). A giant Spike hybrid with incredible strength and a ruthless motivation for money, Catus doesn't come from a very notable background but became a criminal nonetheless. His specialty is relic hunting through unscrupulous methods. This usually ends up with him picking up a cursed/useless artifact, though, as he isn't as bright as he thinks he is.
  • Adventurer Archaeologist: Not a heroic one, though.
  • Ambition Is Evil: His desire to become a part of high society and have the riches they do drove him to thievery and Greed.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Fights using his own two armored fists.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He's a buffoon with a flair for the dramatic. Past the theatrics, he's a greedy cutthroat.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: Revels in his own strength.
  • The Brute: What he really is underneath all his huff and fluff.
  • Chaotic Evil: Technically chaotic neutral. So far, though, a lot of his actions have negatively impacted others or caused great destruction. He doesn't seem to care.
  • The Chessmaster: Subverted. He likes to think of himself as this, but he's actually terrible at thinking ahead. He's rather skilled in setting up grand schemes, he's just unable to improvise or see where it'll fail.
  • Combat Pragmatist
  • Cursed With Suck: Has a STAGGERING amount of curses placed on him—including one that makes him encounter more curses! He wears an enchanted helmet to deal with them, and seeks a more permanent solution.
  • Drama Queen
  • Gotta Catch 'Em All: Wants to acquire every ancient artifact he can get his mitts on.
  • Grave Robbing: How he aquired most of his gear.
  • Embodiment of Vice: Greed!
  • Evil Sounds Deep
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Whether he's a nightmare is debatable, but he certainly wasn't anything special before he decided to start ignoring the law and use his strength more.
  • Gonk: Looks really cartoonish and goofy without his armor on.
  • Hidden Depths: At first glance he's an honorable, if loud, knight. Prolonged exposure reveals the monster he really is.
  • Lackof Empathy
  • The Leader: A villainous version. Bizarrely able to persuade droves of people to listen to him. It's all an act, though.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Never takes off his armor. Ever.
  • Only in It for the Money
  • Phantom Thief: Subverted. He isn't very good at escaping or stealing things unnoticed. He's more of a smash and grab guy, or a looter.
  • Jerkass
  • Not So Weak: As shown in Insurrection.
  • Rebel Leader: Looked like this in Insurrection. He actually had no plans on leading a rebellion. He just wanted to loot the town.
  • Super-Strength: One of his most prominent traits.
  • Tin Tyrant: Again, during the events of Insurrection.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: As a counterpart to Brenner. Catus is ridiculously strong and sturdy, but has never trained in any sort of hand-to-hand fighting style. Nor has he ever learned how to properly use a weapon.
