There are some characters in Kogama that embody plenty of tropes.

Preset Avatars

Blockboy

Blockboy, most commonly known as “Tourist” is the mascot of Kogama. Also serves as the guest avatar.

• Acrofatic: Despite appearing to be overweight, Blockboy is portrayed as physically active in promotional pictures. One render even showed him breakdancing!
• Alliterative Name: Block Boy
• Black Bead Eyes: His eyes are two black rectangular cubes.
• Blush Stickers: This Christmas promo-picture.
• Cheerful Child: This is how he appears to be. He almost always appears to be happy, and is rarely ever seen sad.

• Dreamworks Face: He loves making this face. Here’s an example.
• Featureless Protagonist: In-game, his face is extremely simple, consisting of hair, a simple pixel nose, and black squares for eyes. However, most of the modern promotional renders from 2018-onwards add eyebrows and a mouth.
• Fingerless Hands: Due to block limitations.
• Form-Fitting Wardrobe: Although his entire body is covered up except for his head and hands, his clothes appear to cling to his body.
• Limited Wardrobe: Almost always wearing the same outfit, even in summer-themed promotional pictures, where he is wearing his default outfit on the beach instead of summer attire. ^note This is especially odd considering that he wears a long-sleeved shirt and pants.
  • However, a good chunk of promo-pics show him with accessories, such as badges, sunglasses, and wigs.
• No Mouth: A noticeable trait on his player model. Averted on most of the promotional pictures.
• No-Neck Chump: Being a very blocky character, he has no neck.
  • His female counterpart, Sword Girl, averts this.
• Pink Girl, Blue Boy: The blue boy to Sword Girl’s red ^note (which may be considered a very dark shade of pink) girl.
• Primary-Color Champion: Blue shirt, red pants, blond hair.

• Series Mascot: You can easily tell that he's Kogama's mascot, since he appears on the icons, most of the renders, and much of the UI.
• Sudden Anatomy: Some promotional pictures add additional blocks that represent fingers to his otherwise Fingerless Hands. His player model has No Mouth or eyebrows, so most of the promo-pics depict him with them.
• Super-Deformed: His head is the size of his torso!
• Vague Age: Blockie’s age was never confirmed, although he seems to be a young boy.

Sword Girl

• Badass Adorable: A young girl with a sword, which she swings around in promo art.
• Distaff Counterpart: Blockboy’s female counterpart. She is even sometimes named “Blockgirl”.
• The Noseless: Unlike Blockboy, she has no nose.
• Pink Girl, Blue Boy: The pink ^note Red may qualify as a very dark shade of pink girl to Blockboy’s blue boy.

• The Smurfette Principle: The only female starter avatar.

• Body Horror: Zombie's design is rather grotesque, compared to especially the zombies in Minecraft.

• Everything's Deader with Zombies: One of the skins is, of course, a zombie.
• Halloween Cosplay: The “Skeleton” avatar is actually a human guy in a skeleton costume.
• Happy Holidays Dress: Santa’s Helper wears a Santa dress.
• Palette Swap: Brown Boy is Blockboy but black and wearing purple clothes, albeit with a slightly different haircut.
• Santa Claus: An avatar released in a Christmas update.

Mobs

Oculus

It came from outer space!

• Oculothorax: Oculi mostly consist of an eyeball.
• Red Eyes, Take Warning: The standard Oculi used to have red irises. However, the iris color was eventually changed to white.
  • The only way to have a red-eyed Oculus now is to assign one to a red team in the Game Builder.

Ghost

• Airborne Mook: To be expected from a ghost.
• Invincible Minor Mook: They are unkillable.
