* AloofDarkHairedGirl: {{Averted}}. She's beautiful with pale skin and black hair... but while she's kind and polite, she isn't by any means aloof, being [[GenkiGirl highly energetic]] and [[{{cloudcuckoolander}} spacey]], to the point that some may think of an AmbiguousDisorder.

* BunnyEarsLawyer: Eru may be a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} and have an [[ConstantlyCurious odd]] [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny behaviour]] (to the point you might think about an AmbiguousDisorder), but she's actually very intelligent. Her memory is excellent, she knows many things, is an exceptional student and has a big imagination that very much helps solving mysteries.

* BerserkButton: Do not pander to him or insult his intelligence.

* {{Shoutout}}: In one of the final episodes of the anime, while Houtarou answers the phone, he sits exactly like [[Anime/DeathNote L]]. And barefoot, no less.

* AmbiguousDisorder: It's possible that Houtarou has a mental disorder known as [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizoid_personality_disorder schizoid personality disorder]]. The one who suffer this kind of condition is often aloof, cold, and indifferent in many different ways like a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards a solitary or sheltered lifestyle, unusual or bizarre behavior, have trouble establishing personal relationships or expressing their feelings meaningfully (which explains why Houtarou is an introvert and has known only few friends), and many of them are good with conversation and mental games despite not seeking it out.
* AntiHero: A PragmaticHero of the GoodIsNotSoft variation. He's a good variant of a MagnificentBastard, after all.

* GoodIsNotSoft: As an individual, Houtarou is introvert, aloof and apathetic, but he isn't a bad person. However, he's not above [[MagnificentBastard blackmailing others if it will save him energy in the long run]].

* CovertPervert: Oreki is usually a low-maintenance type of guy who rarely thinks of romance...unless Chitanda is involved. And if she wears anything revealing or cute, he can't help but gawk at her.

* SherlockScan: Used in Episode 3 [[spoiler:to blackmail an upperclassman, Tougaito, who was smoking illegally in a classroom]]. Upon entering the scene, he immediately memorized the presence of several key items.

* {{Expy}}: Bears resemblance to [[LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya Itsuki Koizumi]]. Considering that both series are animated by Creator/KyotoAnimation....

* InnocentFanserviceGirl: Downplayed, in the HotSpringEpisode she comments with a bit of surprise that the hot spring wasn't mixed, and as she had walked down with Oreki was perfectly fine with going with him. She does get embarassed later when Oreki notices her white bikini.

* BlitheSpirit: Energetic, optimistic, quite an airhead and Houtarou's ManicPixieDreamGirl.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Eru may be a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} and have an [[ConstantlyCurious odd]] [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny behaviour]] (to the point you might think about an AmbiguousDisorder), but she's actually very intelligent. * {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: It's not certain exactly what's up with her, but she's quite an oddball, very energetic and naive, and is easily distracted.
* ConstantlyCurious: To Oreki's dismay. Chitanda and her curiosity pretty much drives the plot. Without her, we would just be watching Oreki sit around all day. However, an aspect of this he has been able to exploit is the fact that she can be momentarily satiated with another distraction whenever he feels that her main line of questioning might be too expensive energy-wise.

* AmbiguousDisorder: It's not certain exactly what's up with her, but she's definitely odd.

* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: She's quite an oddball, very energetic and naive, and is easily distracted.

* InnocentBlueEyes: [[MoeStare Her huge blue/purple eyes glow whenever she's curious]], and perfectly fit her kind, innocent, naive and airheaded nature.

* MoeStare: Her eyes practically glow, when she says her above CatchPhrase.

* RapunzelHair

* VitriolicBestFriends: With Mayaka; they are jokingly referred to as "Kaburaya Middle's best couple". Although they constantly aim snark at each other, it's obvious they get along quite well.

* VitriolicBestFriends: With Oreki, though neither would ever admit it. As a matter of fact, Oreki considers her a very dear friend.
