K9/Laika
- Action Girl: Even though she's a dog, she expertly traverses through a destroyed earth, saving puppies and even defeating a general. Similarly to Samus, it's not immediately obvious that K9 is female, but this is because K9 lacks the Tertiary Sexual Characteristics that are commonly used for female cartoon animals.
- Badass Adorable: She's a cute puppy that's also a cool space pilot.
- Expy: K9 is essentially a dog version of Samus Aran. They're both capable action girls and K9's bodysuit is clearly a Shout-Out to Samus' iconic Varia Suit.
- Heroic Dog: A brave dog that embarks on a journey to save the puppies stuck on earth.
- Heroic Mime: She doesn't talk, which you might assume is because she's obviously an animal, but all the other dogs in the game are capable of human speech.
- In-Series Nickname: K9. Her actual name is Laika.
- Meaningful Name: Her name is a Shout-Out to Laika the dog, the first animal to orbit earth.
- Punny Name: K9, as in canine.
31 Puppies
The General
"So I'll tell you what... we're just going to sit right here and see who drops dead first."
The main antagonist and Final Boss of the game. He can be fought once K9 rescues all the puppies.- Big Bad
- Fat Bastard: He's rather plump and is the main villain of the game. His boss fight involves him eating canned food and
spitting it out at you as an attack. To defeat him, you have to cause him to eat so much that he explodes, but he seems to be enjoying himself as he dies, saying it "feels so good". - Final Boss
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: He's a very unflattering caricature of Kim Jong-il.
- Optional Boss: He's the only boss in the entire game, yet is completely optional. If you want the Golden Ending, however, it's required to defeat him.
- "Pop!" Goes the Human: How he dies.
- Powered by a Forsaken Child: He uses tin cans transformed from dogs to prolong his immortality.
- Token Human: The General is the only human seen in the game. Justified, as the game takes place on a post-apocalyptic earth and he's locked himself inside a bunker with his pet cat. He survives by eating canned food made from dogs.
K10
"Hey, yo. I'm a dog. Ruff ruff. Okay, fine, I'm a kitten. The General's very own guard kitten in fact. Take me out with you or I'll rat — er, cat you out!"

- Heel–Face Turn: When K9/Laika meets K10, she's perfectly willing to leave her owner without a second thought, despite boasting that she's his right-hand cat. Justified, as the General is crazy so it's understandable why K10 wouldn't be torn about leaving. This is subverted later when K10, Laika, and the 31 saved dogs crash land on another planet. K10 flies off in Laika's ship without the others knowledge and it's unknown where she flew off to.
- Right-Hand Cat: She's the big bad's pet.
- Punny Name: K10, as in kitten. However, this is simply a nickname that was given to her by the Muttnik after she took off in it. What the kitten's actual name is remains a mystery.
