Characters appearing in the Doctor Who Adventures' various comics stories.

Immediate Media Company London Ltd-era Companions

    Heather McCrimmon

Heather McCrimmon (Tenth Doctor)

The first original companion to be created for Doctor Who Adventures. A descendent of the Second Doctor's companion Jamie McCrimmon, Heather made use of her historical knowledge from her studies at the University of Edinburgh while travelling with the Tenth Doctor and Wolfgang "Wolfie" Ryter. Remarkably, Heather holds the title of the second longest-running comicbook companion (after John and Gillian from the old TV Comics, who both appeared for 63), appearing in nearly 60 (mostly) lighthearted adventures.

  • Arch-Enemy: Mozhtratta, an alien parasite who antagonised Heather in both her first and last adventures.
  • Back for the Finale: She and Wolfie returned for the final Tenth Doctor comic strip of the original DWA run, set during his "final reward" of visiting all his past companions before regenerating into the Eleventh from radiation poisoning.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: With Wolfie.
  • Bio-Augmentation: Tragically, this forces her departure from the TARDIS. An attack from a ReCohesion Cannon restructured her physiology at a molecular level, nulling her body's natural defences against time vortex radiation which is usually harmless. Unable to travel in the TARDIS ever again, Heather gives a tearful farewell to the Doctor.
  • Fantastic Racism: A very mild and realistic example, but she initially struggles to trust non-humanoid aliens, though she gets over this.
  • Generation Xerox: While Heather doesn't physically resemble Jamie, her courageous personality, proud Scottish ancestry and status as among the longest-term companions in their debut mediums certainly brings him to mind.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She has long blonde hair (though she later cuts it shorter) and has a kind, caring personality.
  • Heroic Lineage: She's a descendent of Clan McCrimmon and knows her ancestry very well.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: She designed by a 10-year-old reader, Joanne Hall, as part of a contest.
  • Plucky Girl: She takes all her adventures in stride, seeing TARDIS life as an opportunity to discover more about the past than she could in a textbook.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: Her final appearance set four years after her exit from the TARDIS showed that she and Wolfie continued investigating alien sightings on Earth. She pursued a career in archaeology after graduating from university.

    Wolfgang Ryter

Wolfgang "Wolfie" Ryter (Tenth Doctor)

An Austrian UFO-spotter who tagged along with the Tenth Doctor and Heather.

  • Back for the Finale: Wolfie and Heather returned for the final Tenth Doctor comic strip of the original DWA run, set during his "final reward" of visiting all his past companions before regenerating from radiation poisoning.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: With Heather.
  • Demonic Possession: His final appearance as a regular companion saw him get possessed by Lychaos, who transformed him into a giant werewolf-like monster. Traumatised by the experience, he left the TARDIS immediately after recovering.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: Like Heather before him, Wolfie was designed for a create-a-companion contest, this time by 12-year-old Hamish Gough.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: Alongside Heather, he continued investigating aliens and the paranormal after leaving the TARDIS, while also studying quantum physics by day.

    Decky Flamboon

Decky Flamboon (Eleventh Doctor)

A member of the shapeshifting, reptilian Brancheerian race who tagged along with the Eleventh Doctor to find his lost home planet.

  • Arch-Enemy: Monty Punnions, a barbaric member of the Brancheerian species.
  • The Homeward Journey: His sole purpose for travelling in the TARDIS is to get back home to planet Sirius.
  • Lizard Folk: His natural form is a large green lizard-man.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: He was designed by a kid named Mitchell Collett to fill in between Amy and Rory's departure and Clara's entrance.
  • Shapeshifting: He can change into human form.

Panini-era Companions

    Jata

Jata (Twelfth Doctor)

A member of the Pegasus-like Osumaran race who was stranded in the Wild West. Despite resembling a normal white horse, Jata is intelligent and capable of speech. He was created by Andrew Cartmel.

  • Anti-Hero: He's an ex-outlaw alien horse with racist views against humans and other lesser species, though he gains some heroic instincts after travelling with the Doctor.
  • Cool Horse: A sarcastic alien horse with wings who travels in the TARDIS? Yeah, he's pretty memorable.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He has a remarkably acid wit to match the Twelfth Doctor's.
  • Distinguishing Mark: He has a large black star on his forehead.
  • Heel–Face Turn: His debut story saw him aiding an outlaw named Clint Currie in the Wild West before becoming an ally of the Doctor. Though he's pretty much a Karma Houdini as the Doctor helped him get away with his crimes, and his acerbic personality never really improves.
  • Karma Houdini: The Doctor frames an innocent white horse for Jata's crimes by painting a black star on its head (which is quite bad considering he can famously speak Horse) and makes off to the TARDIS with Jata.
  • Pegasus: His design is clearly modelled on Bellerophon's winged white stallion from Classical Mythology.
  • Puny Earthlings: He thinks very little of humans and deems Earth to be a barbaric world.
  • Retractable Appendages: His wings are easily concealed when they fold into his sides.
  • Talking Animal: A talking alien horse. His role is quite reminiscent of Frobisher the Penguin.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Apples.
  • White Stallion: The Doctor's very own.
