A list of all the characters that appear in Conspiracy Research Club.
The members of Conspiracy Research Club
Luna
Luna Gardner is one of the original protagonists of the Conspiracy Research Club webcomic, and the scribe of the Conspiracy Research Club, the club.
- Conspiracy Theorist: Not surprising, considering the name of the club she's part of, but Luna is still notably more invested in conspiracy theories than Jamie and Katya.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Luna could easily be read as this. She punches her friends regularly over small things, is generally moody and doesn't like being contradicted. Despite this, she clearly does care about her friends and her town.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Luna is known to be easy to irritate. Both Jaime and Katya get punched routinely over small remarks, and Luna is the only member of the CRC to have broken the "no swearing" rule on record.
- Tsundere: Although a more subverted example of this trope, it arguably suits her personality well.
- Limited Wardrobe: All characters in the comic fit this trope, really, but Luna specifically showed herself to own several identical cat hoodies, which she wears everywhere.
- Trademark Favorite Food: UFO gummies and Spookie Crisp Cereal.
- Sweet Tooth: Clearly.
- Not a Morning Person: Luna makes sure to express her animosity towards mornings on the regular.
- Job Title: She's the club's scribe.
Jaime
Jaime Taylor the founder and leader of the club, and one of the comic's original protagonists.
- What the Hell, Hero?: When Jaime admits that there have already been hundreds of timeloops before.
- I'm Taking Her Home with Me!: Does this to the Faceless Hand...
- Let's Get Dangerous!: He's known to have several moments of this.
- Dark Secret: Has been aware of the timeloop for much longer than the rest of the group.
- Not Afraid to Die: Likely because He's aware of the timeloop long before anyone else.
Katya
Katya is one of the comic's main protagonists, she often functions as the club's remote helper.
- Character Development: Katya is incredibly lazy, skittish and shy at the start of the story. As the narrative progresses and the group faces increasingly odder challenges, it's clear that she begins to grow tougher. Her character development is the most obvious, even being pointed out by Luna herself.
- Why Are You Looking at Me Like That?: During the gang's hunt for the Phantom Clown in the abandoned carnival, they all stare at Katya, and then use her as bait.
- Fangirl: She's very much one.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: About Patricia.
- Shipper on Deck: Clearly teases Luna and Jaime constantly.
- Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: Yup, that's Katya.
Patricia
Although technically a member of the Paranormal Research Club (in fact, the only member), Patricia is a character who joined forces with the Conspiracy Research Club later on in the story, becoming part of the gang and a protagonist as the story developed.
- Damsel in Distress: She's this in the first documented timeline.
- In-Series Nickname: Regularly called Patty by Luna.
- Heroic Sacrifice: In order to free herself, Jaime and Luna from prison, Patricia turns herself into a slime again.
- This Is Unforgivable!: When she finds out David had been microdosing her with the enrichment fluid.
- Flirtatious Smack on the Ass: Does this to Katya in File 37.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: Before joining the gang, Patricia acts coldly towards the trio, believing them to be loony and weird. It's clear by her character arc that she begins to care about the CRC as the story progresses though, and especially about Katya.
- Chemistry Can Do Anything: She uses her knowledge in chemistry to turn herself into a slime.
Other Poppy High students
David
David Parker is a member of The Stars and arguably their leader.
- Chick Magnet: He clearly is this- and the writers make sure to keep reminding us about it.
- Hates Their Parent: He really hates his father. To the point of committing Patricide.
- Distracted by the Sexy: Subverted, since they're teenagers, but David is distracted by Patricia's feigned advances when she wants the gang to be able to run out of the house unnoticed.
- Dark Secret: Two dark secrets, in fact! First, he killed his father. Second, he had been microdosing both himself and Patricia with Enrichment Fluid.
Martina
Martina Lopez is a member of the cooking club and one of the school's Stars.
- Feminine Women Can Cook: Self-explanatory, no?
- Flat Character: There isn't much to her outside of her love for cooking, the fact she's popular and that she occasionally frequents the UFO Café secretly. In fact, she seems to have been somewhat forgotten by the writers in later plots.
The adults of Poppy Valley
The Mayor
The town's founder, and local smug bastard.
- Small-Town Tyrant: He is this to Poppy Valley, albeit behind the scenes.
- Would Hurt a Child: Forced his son to undergo electroshock therapy, and tried to dose the CRC kids with the enrichment fluid.
- Big Bad: Pretty much every mystery ties back to him.
- Big Fancy House: Lives in one.
- Older Than They Look: Due to his recreational use of the enrichment fluid.
- Walking Spoiler: You can't really talk about the Mayor without connecting him to the many strange occurrences happening in Poppy Valley.
- Fed to the Beast: Fed to the Boba Monster.
- Jerkass: He's pretty irredeemable.
Mr. & Mrs. Will
A couple who owns a diner at the edge of town.
- Tampering with Food and Drink: Mr. Will adds his "special sauce" to the food he serves, which turns out to be Enrichment Fluid. This is what's causing the diner's regulars to rot.
- Dark Secret: Their usage of the Enrichment Fluid is a secret.
Non-Human Characters
Tesla
Just a hand from the Faceless Underground.
- Canine Companion: Tesla become's the gang's dog.
- The Nose Knows: Has been shown to have a keen sense of smell, being able to trace Patricia or the bacon in Jaime's pockets.
The Faceless Hand
Just a hand from the Faceless Underground.
- Helping Hands: Yep, it's one of those.
- Unusual Pets for Unusual People: Jaime sees it as a pet.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: Let's just say that Jaime didn't get to keep it as a pet for long.
The Man
The Man is a mysterious entity who claims to not be "from around here," whatever that may mean.
- Cheshire Cat Grin: This is his default expression.
- The Watcher: Self-explanatory, he fits the trope to a tee.
- Mysterious Protector: Proved himself to be one.
- Back from the Dead: His corpse was seen in earlier timeloops.
- Cryptically Unhelpful Answer: Despite explaining how the timeloop works and revealing several secrets surrounding Poppy Valley, every time the CRC asks him how they should proceed in order to save the world, he's very unhelpful.
- Ambiguously Human: What exactly is he? Nobody really knows. He looks human enough, but clearly isn't one.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Is just known as "The Man."
