Wendle Family
Mary Wendle
- Voiced by: Katie Crown
Clarence's mother, Chad's Girlfriend and the daughter of Dillies and Seymour Wendle.
- Action Mom: In "Karate Mom".
- Big Beautiful Woman: Has a heavyset shape.
- Closer to Earth: She's the most grounded member of her family by far.
- Good Parents: Mary's rare combination of patience, stamina, humor and unconditional support make her the perfect parent for Clarence. Mary is a very loving and caring mother to her high-energy son. She keeps him in check, however.
- Not So Above It All: Although not as high and mighty as most examples, she's not as grounded as she first appeared. This is best shown when she immediately switches gears to spy on "Chalmers Santiago" with Clarence.
- Parents as People: She's a very accurate portrayal of a lower middle class mother.
- Parental Obliviousness: Has a habit of not noticing what mischief Clarence is getting into.
- Reasonable Authority Figure
- Trademark Favorite Food: She likes to make and eat "Pizza Poppers" as seen in the "Pilot".
- Two First Names: Either "Mary" or "Wendle" can be used as a first name.
- Women Are Wiser: Downplayed as she's still likely mess around with her son or boyfriend.
Dilliss Wendle
- Voiced by: Maria Bamford
Mary's very overbearing mother.
- Control Freak: Dilliss thinks she needs to fix everything she sees her family doing. What's worse is that, possibly as a result of severe senility, she has no idea how to do ''any'' of these things and always makes things much worse: when she thought the knife Chad got to cut the meatloaf was too sharp, she ended up stabbing him with a fork. When she thought Clarence's diorama had some pieces out of place, she completely destroyed it. She thought the food in the fridge needed to be labelled, but spilled paint everywhere and took so long with it that everything spoiled.
- Killed Off for Real/Killed Offscreen: "Plane Excited" has the family going to her funeral.
- Motor Mouth: She's a super fast talker.
- My Beloved Smother: Is this to an extreme degree in "Hurricane Dilliss".
- Noodle Incident: It's not said how or when she died, besides that it was after Hurricane Dilliss.
- Scatterbrained Senior: It's implied that she's more senile than Seymour, considering that what brought her to Mary's house was her wandering away from wherever she and her husband were.
- Screw Politeness, I'm a Senior!: An elderly woman who messes up the house, among other things.
- Strong Family Resemblance: She very much resembles a shorter and older version of Mary.
- The Thing That Would Not Leave: In her first appearance, she came to visit and took over.
Seymour Wendle
Mary's father and Clarence's grandfather
- Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: He plays this role to Dillis.
- Expy: Looks and sounds very similar to Hank Hill.
- Scatterbrained Senior: Though not to the extent that his wife, Dillis, is, he calls Chad "Damian" and refers to Clarence as "Creedence"
Caswell Family
Charles "Chad" Caswell III
- Voiced by: Eric Edelstein
Mary's slobbish, but amiable live-in boyfriend. Acts as a father figure to Clarence.
- Alliterative Name: Charles Caswell. Also applies with his nickname.
- Big Eater: He loves to eat.
- Big Fun: Rather out of shape, but a fun dude.
- Birds of a Feather: He's a fat goofball... but so is Clarence, and so they get along great.
- Bumbling Dad: Although not Clarence's biological father, for sure he still counts.
- Butt-Monkey: He suffers in a few episodes such as getting his legs broken after the boys booby trapped the door in his absence.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Chad can be rather spacey.
- Drives Like Crazy: He should really keep his eyes on the road.
- Expy: To Richard Watterson.
- Fat Idiot: A chubby Cloudcuckoolander.
- Fat Slob
- Kavorka Man: The dude looks like a giant ape in a tank top (or what happens when you combine Homer Simpson from The Simpsons with Greg from Steven Universe). And he is somehow dating Clarence's mom, who doesn't look like a, well, ape.
- Manchild: He has a goofy personality.
- Nice Guy: He may be a screw-up, but he's a lovable guy who gets along great with Clarence.
- One of the Kids: Gets along great with Clarence and his friends. In the episode "Dinner Party", he opts out of socializing with the grown-ups at a dinner party hosted by Breehn's parents, and instead joins in on an adventure with the kids in the attic.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: His full name is only seen on his license in "Where the Wild Chads Are".
- Parental Substitute: Chad acts as a positive father figure to Clarence since Clarence's real father is MIA.
- Perma-Stubble: Looks like a fade, with mustache hair to boot.
Fern Caswell
Chad's father, Star's husband and Charles's son.
Charles Caswell
Chad's Grandfather and Fern's Father.
Star Caswell
Chad's mother and Fern's wife.
