Located in a large island northwest of Runersia. They have been in conflict with the Holy Gustava Empire ever since the "Gustava Incident".

    Rubino

Rubino IV (Voiced by Soma Saito)

Class: Prince -> Crown Prince

The Ruler of the Norzaleo Kingdom. The Prince is forcibly thrust into action upon the sudden death of his father Rubino III and the invasion of the Holy Gustava Empire.

  • Arch-Enemy: Tim Gustav is this to him, as the Norzaleo Kingdom and the Holy Gustava Empire have been mortal enemies for ages.
  • Awesome Moment of Crowning: He's crowned King of Runersia at the end of his campaign.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: With Elena, whom he proposes to at the end of his campaign.
  • Cultured Warrior: He's a playwright that writes scripts for theatric performances when he's not fighting.
  • Expy: To Lance of New Almekia. Both are low leveled and inexperienced princes forced to rule unexpectedly and in unfavorable circumstances as well as possessing Magikarp Power to be the most powerful Knight in their respective continents.
  • For Great Justice: The Norzaleo Kingdom as a whole is all about this, he officially joins the war by proclaiming his desire to bring justice to every corner of Runersia and his default quotes when starting a battle are variations of this.
  • Good Is Not Soft: One of the kindest characters in all of Runersia. Also fully capable of conquering the entire continent, taking even the likes of Rudo down.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Wields swords as his weapon and is the most heroic ruler in the game.
  • An Ice Person: His class has a strong affinity to the Blue Element, not to mention having physical skills and spells that inflict ice damage.
  • Irony: In his campaign, he eventually abandons his quest for revenge for his father's murder. However, if the player chooses to oppose the Rune God in the ending he ends up unwittingly avenging his father, as the Rune God was the one who killed him.
  • King Incognito: If Norzaleo falls, he goes into hiding and resurfaces years later as a playwright, with his plays now focusing on people trying to live their lives to the fullest as opposed to his previous works that tended to be about battles and knights.
  • Magikarp Power: Starts off as a Level 5 Prince but has a high growth potential.
  • Manly Tears: He's a little more emotional than the other rulers and sometimes openly weeps, mostly when reminiscing about his father.
  • Nice Guy: Despite the surrounding rumors that he's a tad bit overzealous in carrying the ideals of justice, Rubino has always been deep down a good, decent and kind-hearted prince.
  • Relative Button: He doesn't like it when people speak ill of his father. Rudo particularly aggravates him when he suggests the Brigandine of Justice itself is what killed Rubino III because he was unworthy of wielding it.
  • Reluctant Warrior: He was thrust into the war for Runersia after Gustava invaded his kingdom and would rather not fight a bloody war, to the point that he frequently tries to persuade his enemies to surrender or join his cause.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: Jiu and Grados remark at one point that both the knights and the people adore him.
  • The Wise Prince: He's well aware of the toll the war is taking on Runersia, looks out for his subjects' well-being and is pointedly not a zealot, as he actually questions the value of a justice forced upon others.
  • You Killed My Father: One of his driving motives is to uncover the identity of his father's murderer. He at first believes Tim Gustav to be the culprit, and will also accuse Rudo Marco and Eliza of having done it if you pit them against one another. All deny it, and all are innocent. The Rune God did it.

    Grados

Grados (Voiced by Kenta Miyake)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lvbtb2oj9ir5yf92t2todo7r09k1rzg6wcxvnd6jz6mfhuedn4hin75uv2ew5msgeqfalelxejhd1py9.jpg

General of the Norzaleo Kingdom who has served and fought in many battles alongside his peers Jiu and Ange.

  • Cannot Talk to Women: Downplayed. Grados can talk to women just fine, but as long as said women aren't very close to him (such as Jiu or Elena), this will send him into a sneezing fit so he really cannot talk to a majority of women without sneezing a lot.
  • Crutch Character: More compared to the guy he's based on (see Expy below). Grados has a very high starting level, but his Rune Power eventually tops at 'above average', so he can still be relevant until endgame, but will still need a lot of help to carry the game.
  • Cultured Warrior: Not only is he a powerful warrior, he is also a literary arts teacher.
  • Expy: Of Gereint of New Almekia Both are older and powerful Crutch Characters who are unwaveringly loyal to their respective lieges.
  • Emotional Bruiser: It's not uncommon for him to openly weep, especially when the conversation revolves around the late king Rubino III.
  • The Lancer: To Prince Rubino.
  • Old Soldier: He's an old, veteran Paladin that has served the previous King since he was a young boy. And still kicking.
  • Parental Substitute: Alongside with Jiu, he cares for Prince Rubino, especially with the sudden death of Rubino III.

The only daughter of Ange and a childhood friend to Prince Rubino.

  • Childhood Friends: She's the supportive friend that Rubino had since childhood. In the Norzaleo ending, it evolves into Childhood Friend Romance when Rubino proposes to her and makes her his Queen.
  • Dub Name Change: Her name is spelled as 'Iena' in the Japanese version.
  • Magikarp Power: Just like with Prince Rubino, she is only a Level 5 Hunter but her growth rate is high.

  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Has a female voice, is a member of the Fair Folk commonly reserved for female. Referred with male pronouns.
  • Magikarp Power: Starts as a Level 1 Barret Rookie but his later classes adds devatasting area-of- effects spells and attacks that hits at a large radius against the enemy army.
  • Squishy Wizard: Fairly weak physically but boasts an impressive list of spells.
  • Undying Loyalty: Towards Elena. In gameplay, his abilty Elena's Protection boosts his INT stat by 10% and gives him constant MP regeneration when fighting alongside her.

    Jiu

Jiu (Voiced by Masako Katsuki)

The highest ranked priestess in the Kingdom of Norzaleo and is highly renowned throughout Runersia for being a noble and powerful mage.

  • The Archmage: Alongside with Mu'ah of Guimoule, she is highly renowned in Runersia as a powerful mage.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: An interesting variation, neither Rubino nor Elena are fans of her cooking, but it's nonetheless stated to be very nutritious, in spite of its weird taste.
  • Crutch Character: A more blatant example compared to Grados. Jiu's starting stats are tremendous for early game, but she has one of the lowest Rune Growth amongst Runersia.
  • Never Mess with Granny: She's a grandma and still one of the best mages of Runersia.
  • Parental Substitute: She takes care of Prince Rubino like a caring old grandmother, even cooking healthy but unpleasant looking meals for him to eat.

  • Magikarp Power: She's a Level 1 Enchantress. When given the chance to grow, she will end up as a potent Witch, similarly to Norgard's Elaine. Even better: Leonora has one of the best Rune Power in Runersia when reaching maximum level, the only ones that beat her in Norzaleo are just Rubino and Elena.
