"Lay down your weapons and let's be friends."

A clan of very attractive men and women, the Hulder seem to be the most willing clan to ally with others, but the hostility towards the Vi and the competing clans is still present. The men of Hulder are gentleman warriors who speak eloquently and have refined poise, but it's said that the Hulder are only gentlemen during the day...

They're a clan of cunning strategists. Their natural ability is a mystery, but somehow, they always seem to know their enemy's deepest secrets. Their tongues cut sharper than any blade.

Based on the Scandinavian myth of the Hulder, seductive forest creatures.

     The Hulder Clan in General

  • Awesome by Analysis: They're excellent strategists and always know their enemies' deepest, darkest secrets.
  • Beneath the Mask: There are rumors that the Hulder are gentleman by day, but their true, more dangerous personalities show at night...
  • I'm a Humanitarian: During Ambrosia's "trial by wolves," they threaten to eat her. The only thing that stopped them was Arsenik stepping in.
  • Pretty Boy: They're known for their beauty —even among those who don't trust them.
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: The Hulder tend to spell their names unconventionally. (Viktor, Arsenik)

     Arsenik

"Would you mind? This poor treatment of a lady is making me sick."

One of the eligible suitors for Ambrosia.

Arsenik is truly the perfect gentleman. Chivalrous, honorable, eloquent, and dignified, even his more biting remarks sound pleasant. Around his beloved Ambrosia, he tends to get self-conscious and awkward, since he has feelings for her. He's absolutely bewitched by her beauty and kindness, but still avoids coming to her for healing.

As a male of the Hulder Clan, he's expected to be a hunter, but he actually dislikes violence, making him surprisingly similar to Ambrosia in that regard. However, on the Island of Virgo, you have to earn your name, and he bares the name of a poison. There's more to this peaceful gentleman than meets the eye.

  • Beneath the Mask: He comes off as a confident, cool gentleman, but really he's often tripping over himself when it comes to the girl he likes. And that doesn't even touch on whatever he's hinted at makes him unworthy to even touch someone as pure as Ambrosia.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Arsenik is a kind, civil gentleman to Ambrosia, and he dislikes fighting and having to resort to violence, but he is named after poison for a reason.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: As charmingly as he speaks, he can't seem to actually confess to Ambrosia. And she isn't the type to take a hint.
  • Courtly Love: The way he goes about courting Ambrosia.
  • The Perfectionist
  • Gentleman Snarker: He always speaks politely, but that doesn't mean he's always saying kind things —especially when Wildfire is involved.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy
  • Rescue Introduction: His first scene is him rescuing Ambrosia from the Hulder and keeping her safe, for some reason.
  • Shirtless Scene: He spends all of War: 13th Day wearing only a lion's pelt around his neck.
  • The Strategist
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: He claims that, as a gentleman, he doesn't want to or like fighting against women, which makes fights with the Valkyrie Clan difficult.

     Viktor

"It... feels nice..."
Arsenik's nephew, who he takes with him on hunts.

After getting a knee injury, he has been in Ambrosia's care, and has since become quite smitten with her, although he can't bring himself to tell her, no matter how obvious his behavior and blushing makes it. He joins Arsenik on hunts, but he admits that he has always basically been the last one picked or at least much less popular than Arsenik, so he is surprised if he gets much attention at all.

  • If Ambrosia trades with him, he will be so happy that she'll draw for him or sing him a song that he'll hum gleefully.

     Will

The chief of the Hulder Clan.

  • Affably Evil: Wrote a very polite letter demanding the Vi's surrender after hitting their leader with a lethally poisonous arrow.
    Greetings, members of the Vi,
If you're reading this, then I regret to inform you that your recipient has been infected by one of the island's strongest —but fortunately not quickest —toxins.
I have the antidote for it, but while I feel for your leader, I'm not comfortable sharing it with strangers, wielding sharp objects and seeking to spill blood.
Lay down your weapons and let's be friends. I hope to hear your response by sunset.
    My best regards,
    Will, Chief of the Hulder
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: Give up the fight or let Barium die.
  • Shame If Something Happened: Discussed the Vi's leader's imminent death very casually in their letter.
