The World of Remnant

     In General
  • The Immune: Aura appears to grant humans from Remnant(as they appear to be a variant of Psyker) this status from the Warp; simultaneously acting as a psychic filter against corruptive energies by internalizing the power drawn in from the Immaterium and making it a part of their own soul, and shielding them from Daemonic eyes by acting as "glass windows in a street lamp, keeping the light of the candle contained," to paraphrase Zahra. This goes doubly so for people like Ruby, who possess the Silver Eyes and a strong moral character in addition to Aura.
  • Our Mages Are Different: Serve as this to typical human Psykers in 40k. While both types draw upon the same kind of energy for their powers, there are a few key differences.
    • Remnantians can only utilize Aura for personal defense and physical enhancement, while Semblances are-barring a few inherited exceptions such as that of the Schnee bloodline-completely random and wholly dependent on the person it belongs to. Meanwhile, ordinary Psykers can choose which disciplines of Psykana they focus on and can even master multiple techniques, but this often comes at the cost of physical fitness.
    • As stated in The Immune above, Aura-users do not easily show up on the radars of Daemons and the Ruinous powers and are more resistant to Corruption due to filtering and internalizing their psychic energies, while Psykers are always at risk of both due to drawing directly from the Warp rather than an internal reserve of power.
    • Word of God has confirmed that, due to said internal reserves of power, an Aura-user won't immediately lose their powers when coming into contact with a Blank or Pariah Field. They will, however, run out of Aura faster than normal, with how fast they run out depending on the power of the Blank/Pariah Field in question, and they won't be able to recover their reserves until they leave the area of effect.

The Castaways

     In General
  • Trapped in Another World: After falling into the abyss back on Remnant during the evacuation of Atlas, Team RWBY, Jaune, and Neopolitan find themselves scattered across the galaxy of the Warhammer 40K universe.
  • Ironic Hell: Combined with Be Careful What You Wish For, Team RWBY ends up in the Crapsack World of Warhammer 40k in positions that are a twist of their original motivations for becoming Huntresses.
    • Ruby wanted to be a hero and ends up being worshipped as a Living Saint after saving an Imperial world from becoming a Daemonic potluck following Cadia's destruction.
    • Weiss, the heiress who fought hard to prevent herself from becoming her father's tool, is trapped in Trazyn's museum as a literal showpiece.
    • Blake ends up becoming a leader of a band of rebels trying to survive a purge from the upper hive, similar to Adam, minus the extremism
    • Yang was someone who enjoyed fights and has a semblance that lets her endure a lot of punishment, ends up in the hands of the Dark Eldar as a gladiator in Commorragh.

Team RWBY

     Ruby Rose

Ruby Rose, the Silver-Eyed Huntress, the Stella Argentea, the Silver Light.

The leader of Team RWBY, Ruby Rose has fallen through the tides of the Immaterium onto a new world in an entirely different universe from the one she called home. While seeking to find her friends and return home to Remnant, the same qualities that made her a hero in that world compel her to intervene against the forces of darkness in this one, and her presence may shake the very stars themselves and has already begun to attract the attention of Men, Xenos, and Gods of all kinds.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Even when General Kastriot offers her a shuttle off-world and tells her that the Ork Waagh! is not her problem, she still wants to help out any way she can.
  • The Dreaded: In the aftermath of the Battle for Kanrilla, Ruby's feats cause her to become feared by the remaining Orks with her even being compared to Commissar Sebastian Yarrick.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Serves as this for the Ruinous Powers of Chaos; considering how her Silver Eyes can Truly Kill entire Legions of Lesser Daemons while petrifying/crippling those Daemons of a higher rank, and she is incredibly resistant to corruption via the nature of Aura and her own character.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: When it comes to Chaos Daemons, her Silver Eyes allow her to serve as this; and not just by banishment either. Her debut in the war against the Ruinous Powers is to grant True Death to an entire legion of Daemons. Barring their Heralds, who are petrified, and their commanding Greater Daemon, who is partially petrified and greatly weakened enough for Ruby to Banish it by Decapitation. Such a feat hasn't been seen in 40k Lore since the War in the Webway, when The Emperor Himself unleashed his full power against the Daemonic hordes trying to invade the Imperial Palace.
  • Red Baron: Is given the nickname, Red Rippa, by the Orks. The Emperor refers to her as The Silver Light.
  • Worthy Opponent: To Gurzag. Once he hears about her killing one of his Nobs, he recognizes her as a strong opponent and relishes the idea of fighting her.
  • Stop Worshipping Me: Ruby is very uncomfortable at the idea of Imperials seeing her as a Saint following her use of the Silver Eyes.

     Weiss Schnee
  • And I Must Scream: She ends up trapped in one of Trazyn's stasis prisons as part of his collection completely unable to move or scream.
  • Badass in Distress: Despite her abilities as a huntress, she is currently trapped as a part of Trazyn's collection.
     Blake Belladonna
  • The Chains of Commanding: She's really feeling the pressure of so many lives depending on her for survival. It becomes even more apparent when the rebels are faced with the option of either starving to death or leading a suicidal attack against the enemy fortifications. Luckily, she gets a little help from an unexpected source.
  • Rebel Leader: She initially sets out to simply prevent the authorities of Dromoros from slaughtering innocent people. It ultimately results in her becoming the de facto leader of the resistance forces against the planetary governor.
  • Red Baron: The people of Dromoros refer to her by either The Black Gyrinx or The Shadow Witch.

     Yang Xiao Long
  • Covered in Scars: Yang bears many scars both from being tortured by the Drukhari and from being forced to fight in the arena against strong opponents.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Being trapped in Commorragh, often regarded as one of the very worst places in the 40k Galaxy to the point death is a better choice. Yang is trapped there as a slave and gladiator.
  • Gladiator Games: The Drukhari Archon who captured her is forcing her to compete in these, promising her and a slave girl that she's been tricked into thinking is Ruby(though how well Yang has been fooled by these is anyone's guess)freedom if she completes ten consecutive matches. Being a Drukhari, he has no intention of honoring this and deliberately sets up her tenth opponent as someone Yang can't possibly beat, so as to draw nourishment from her hope getting crushed again and again.
  • Heroic Willpower: Despite enduring the agonies of Drukhari torture and the pain of fighting pits, Yang remains defiant and swears to kill the Archon she is enslaved to.
  • Made a Slave: Was captured by the Drukhari and forced to fight in the arena for the amusement of her captors.

Others

     Jaune Arc
  • The Ghost: Was discussed in the first chapter, but has yet to make an appearance in the story proper, and his current whereabouts are unknown at this stage.
     Neo
  • The Ghost: Was with Ruby when she fell into the abyss, but she has not been seen since, and her current whereabouts are unknown.
     Spoiler Character

Summer Rose

Ruby's mothernote  and the leader of Team STRQ, Summer Rose was a Silver-Eyed Warrior and one of the greatest Huntresses of her generation, serving as one of Ozpin's best agents and a major inspiration for her daughter. One day, she went out on a mission, one even Ozpin knew nothing about, and never came back, being presumed dead.

However, it's revealed that, in her youth, she encountered one of the Imperium's greatest heroes, and unknowingly gave her daughter a connection to the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

  • Fantasy Keepsake: In the flashback story, Fairy Tale, she tells Ruby a bedtime story of a little girl with a silver mirror helped a silver knight save her village from a horde of demons. In reality, it was no mere bedtime story. Summer was the little girl and the silver mirror was a metaphor for her Silver Eyes. As for the Silver Knight in question, it was none other than Kaldor Draigo, Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights himself, who vanished shortly after saving her village. Summer spent many years trying to find Kaldor with no success. One would almost be forgiven for thinking she imagined the whole thing. However, on the back of the pendant she left Ruby is a sliver of metal that broke off of Kaldor's shield, proving that what she experienced was very much real.
