Braavos

The Free City of Braavos is a city of Essos ruled by the Sealord. In addition to being the main base of the Brotherhood of the Blackfyres, it is home to several factions with a stake in the greater affairs of the world.

The Sealord and his followers

The current Sealord and his inner circle are nothing like those who came before. Like the Brotherhood, they also possess superhuman powers.

    The Sealord of Braavos

Charlus Storm, Sealord of Braavos

The ruler of Braavos. A wheelchair-bound bald man with a penchant for adopting children. He has some history and an uneasy relationship with Erik/Magneto. And a history that will shake Essos to its core in due time.

  • Big Good: As the Sealord, he's in charge of an entire city. And he rules it with fairness and compassion to all. Even bringing the entire city together to clean up the fight with the Mandarin regardless of class.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to his step-brother Cain Marko. AKA The Juggernaut
  • Composite Character: He's Charles Xavier merged with Ferrego Antaryon, the ruling Sealord during the events of the books. Downplayed in that he only gets the title from the latter.
  • Evil Uncle: Subverted. He's technically the Bastard uncle of Robert, Stannis and Renly, but decided to follow his stepfather's path instead by rising honestly in Braavosi politics.
  • Heroic Bastard: As revealed by Doom (who knows a bit more about Westerosi history), Charles was the bastard son of a lover of Ormund Baratheon.
  • Psychic Powers: His power is telepathy.
  • Restrained Revenge: Charlus originally conspired with Erik to return as another conquering duo. But in time, he decided the best kind of revenge would be to become successful in Essos and show that they were nothing without directly harming the people who shunned them.

    Scott

Scott, the Summer Knight

One of Charlus' proteges, and Jeen's husband.

  • Brutal Honesty: Holds nothing back to Arya, saying that while Erik might hold the Brotherhood in esteem, he recruited them like a king would, with each one serving a political purpose.
  • Eye Beams: His power is to fire energy beams from his eyes.
  • Hidden Depths: Quickly understands the political games Magneto plays with the people he recruits. Ordinary brutes for soldiers, and those with connections to high nobles and power players for all the rest.
  • Informed Ability: In-Universe, despite his epiteth, he isn't really a knight.
  • Mysterious Past: He was found adrift in the northern sea with only a golden medallion with a sun and two swords crossed over it. Little else is known about his past.
  • Power Incontinence: He can't shut his power off, having to wear a pair of Myrish glasses with rubies instead of normal lenses.

    Jeen

Jeen, the Gray Lady

Charlus' ward, and Scott's wife.

  • Identical Stranger: Downplayed, Arya comments on her startling likeness to Sansa. If the rumor about Jeen being Hoster Tully's bastard is true, then it would be explained as Strong Family Resemblance with her niece. Word of God confirms the connection, but states that she's actually Brynden Tully's bastard daughter, who Hoster attempted to have aborted, which in turn caused the rift between the brothers.
  • My Nayme Is: Jeen instead of Jean.
  • Mysterious Past: Like Scott, little is known of her past other than being from the Riverlands. Her bright red hair makes people suspect she might be a Tully, with some suggesting she might be Holster Tully's bastard daughter. Qyburn implies he knows about her. Word of God confirms that she is a Tully bastard, but that she's Brynden's daughter, not Hoster's.
  • Psychic Powers: Unlike Charles, not only can she read minds, but she can also telekinetically move objects.
  • Unknown Relative: To the Tully family and the Starks of Winterfell. Arya notices the resemblance to Sansa, but that's about it..

    Hank

Henrik "Hank" Tarly, Beast

Another of Charlus' proteges and Randyll Tarly's younger brother who was studying at the Citadel to become a Maester when an accident involving wildfire turned him into a blue furry humanoid.

  • Adaptation Name Change: From Henry McCoy to Henrik Tarly.
  • Angst? What Angst?: In-Universe, his reaction to a mutation that made him look more like an animal than a human is "such is life".
  • Crossover Relatives: To House Tarly as a whole, being Randyll Tarly's younger brother.
  • Cultured Badass:Has a love of books and knowledge, and was quite strong even before his mutation.
  • Jock Dad, Nerd Son: The Nerd Son to his and Randyl Tarly's unnamed Jock Dad. However, unlike Randyll and his own son Sam (who also exemplify this trope, which seems to be a Tarly thing), Hank was more than able to put his father in his place.
  • Martial Pacifist: Doesn't like to fight. Doesn't mean he won't if provoked.
  • The Medic: Though he doesn't have healing powers, he plays this role to Charlus' group. And in fact, the Brotherhood often have to borrow his services when they need a medic.
  • My Nayme Is: Henrik instead of Henry.

    Ororo

Ororo

Another of Charlus' protegees. A woman from the Summer Islands.

  • Stripperiffic: Her white dress is described as extremely revealing, but also leaves some of her private bits exposed if she so much shifts in her seat.
  • Supreme Chef: If Beast's reaction is anything to go by, she appears to be this.
  • Weather Manipulation: Her powerset.

     Rogue

Maree, Rogue

Another of Charlus' protegees. A young girl who shares some history with Mystique.

  • Can't Have Sex, Ever: This is a standard source of angst for Rogue, but it's also one of the reasons she chose to leave the Brotherhood and join the Sealord. Since her powers would likely kill any prospective romantic partners and, if she did manage to get pregnant, any baby in the womb, she'll never be able to get married or have children; thus she thinks that she'll be no use to Magneto and Mystique in their quest to retake Westeros, establish a new ruling dynasty and (crucially) form alliances via marriage.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her powers have caused her no amount of trouble, and her fear and anxiety have often caused her to push others away too quickly.
  • Funetik Aksent: Much like Gambit, Maree retains her comic counterpart's thick accent.
  • The Hedonist: Maree emphasises to Arya that she wants to spend her life travelling, meeting new people and having fun, rather than sticking by Mystique's side in the hope of becoming a princess in Westeros — but she takes this approach to life because she knows that she'll never have a family or any kind of legacy.
  • My Nayme Is: From Marie to Maree
  • Power Incontinence: Like in canon, Maree can absorb life energy on touch with human skin. But also, like in Marvel, she can never turn it off and needs to wear gloves for everyone's safety.
  • The Resenter: She resents Mystique for seemingly abandoning her.

The Ten Rings

A mysterious cult led by a figure known as the Mandarin.

    The Mandarin

Wenwu, the Mandarin

The leader of the Ten Rings, whose influence spreads well beyond Braavos.

  • Adaptational Superpower Change: While his rings are armbands, as presented in the MCU, they possess the varied abilities held by the comic version of the character.
  • Arc Villain: While there are many factions, he's the overall Big Bad of the Braavos storyline of Book 3.
  • Composite Character: He has the name of Wenwu of the MCU. His minions have some abilities of Extremis, making him also Killian of Iron Man 3. And finally, he's Bolivar Trask because he creates Sentinals to fight the mutants of the story.
  • The Man Behind the Man: It turns out that he's been manipulating Renly since the latter was a child to gain a foothold in Westeros.
