While A City Fallen primarily consists of characters from pre-existing media, some original characters, notably protagonists, put in an appearance.

Primeval Characters

     Sergeant Greg Banes

The most notable ARC member in the story, Greg Banes is a sergeant in the organization's security division, working under Captain Hilary Becker. He is one of the more rational members of the group, preferring to distract or deter attackers rather than attacking directly.

Tropes that apply to Sergeant Greg Banes

  • Only Sane Man: For much of the story, particularly the parts revolving around him, Hwëdværian and Jinx, he is by far the most rational person present.

Arcane Characters

     Jinx

A fifteen-year-old girl with a tumultuous past and several personality disorders, Jinx is the estranged younger sister of Vi. While her sister is a law enforcer, she is a trigger-happy sociopath who suffers from hallucinations. Her previously-mundane life changes when she accidentally makes friends with Hwëdværian, a future predator.

Tropes that apply to Jinx

  • Ax-Crazy: The only people she hasn't tried to kill are Banes and Hwëdværian.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: She sometimes abstains from killing things on the spot, either out of curiosity or because, just for once, she's being friendly.
  • Insane Troll Logic: During the middle of the megopteran plague, she insists on going out and blowing something up.
  • The Sociopath: Though probably not to the same extent as Hwëdværian, she destroys things and kills people just for the fun of it. She does show some remorse at times, though.
  • Trigger-Happy: Her preferred mode of attack, in lieu of grenades, is to use her minigun. This works, to great effect, against the gorgonopsid.

Creatures

     Hwëdværian

A future predator that found he could communicate with humans, Hwëdværian is by far the most dangerous of the protagonists. While Jinx has an array of guns and grenades, Hwëdværian prefers violently and painfully dismembering his victims.

Tropes that apply to Hwëdværian

  • Sociopathic Hero: Besides Jinx, he is probably the most insane character, despite how little he shows it. He's perfectly willing to brutally attack anything he perceives as a threat. Including innocent enforcers.
     Callidaves nyx

A species of highly-intelligent troodontids that hunt by falling onto their prey from trees.

Tropes that apply to Callidaves nyx

  • Adaptation Name Change: In A City Fallen they were unnamed. In Demons and Harpies, George Ramirez revealed their name to be Callidaves nyx.
     Distangnathus raptivus
A species of transgenic organism created by BioSyn Genetics, originating from another of the author's works, Jurassic World Regenesis.

Tropes that apply to Distangnathus raptivus]]

  • Half-Human Hybrid: A small part of their genome consists of Homo sapiens.
  • Hybrids Are A Crap Shoot: The Ocypete has severe scoliosis and heterochromia. Both of the hybrids uncontrollably twitch.
  • Meaningful Name: The name Diablovenator means "demon hunter". The name Ocypete, on the other hand, is a reference to one of the Greek harpies, referencing their part-human nature.
  • Monster Mouth: Being a hybrid of a wide variety of different species, their jaws are unusual. They're capable of detaching their jaws like snakes (though this results in brief dislocation) and protruding their upper jaws like Trigonognathus kabeyai. They're also highly venomous.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Their jaws contain teeth protruding in almost every imaginable direction.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Diablovenator is a far less aggressive animal than the Ocypete, despite being equally psychotic.
     Quetzalcoatlus

An abnormally large Quetzalcoatlus with a distinct mean streak. In addition to habits typical of its species, it is sadistic, torturing its victims without killing them.

Tropes that apply to Quetzalcoatlus

  • Immune to Bullets: Functionally, at least. It barely even reacted when it was shot repeatedly with an M249, leaving only when the pain was too great.
  • Sadist: The Quetzalcoatlus often attacks and wounds its prey for sport. The first attack left Caitlyn badly wounded. The second kickstarted Jinx's descent into total madness.
